I have an old runway that I want to smooth out to plant Sanfoin and alfalfa. It is moderately rutted. What is the best tractor implement to use? I have a box scraper without teeth, back blade, rotatiler, disker and a rock rake. 42 hp Kabota. No hydrolics so adjustments by hand. Thanks.

Roto-till and use the back edge of the box blade to smooth(lift front).

Thanks Dan. Was hoping to not turn over the entire field so as to not bring up a bunch of weeds. However i need to get it smooth for mowing purposes. I can always spray before i drill.

Kinda touchy landing in alfalfa! ;).....unless you have bush tires!

I’ll do my best to cut it low before you land.

Spray for sure.Level, spray ,wait a week or so and spray again then plant.Well worth the effort.I have made the mistake in the past by being in a hurry to plant and get things growing. We are doing about 15 acres this year, corn, sorghum, oats ,winter rye and sunflowers.Gave up on soy-beans ,the critters eat them as fast as they come up.

Damn, I'll trade you my foodplots for your airstrip!
