Wondering if I could use my lookout hen decoy as a breeder by just sitting it on the ground instead of buying a new decoy. Has anyone done this or know anything about it?

The real birds seem to like them even when staked as a lookout. ;-)

I bought a jake and wanted to try a breeder in 2017 without buying a new hen and it worked out perfectly

I bought missperfect hens a few years ago because they took up such little space in a pack and hardly weigh anything. They are also nice because the head and neck has a wire attached to it that can be bent to any angle desired.

In some cases it might actually work better. I have a breeder been that has been sexually assaulted by multiple times over her life span. But when the grass starts growing I sometimes have to prop her up on top of sticks or a dirt clump just so that more than just the head is visible from any distance at all. The breeders work well but are so low to the ground that they can easily disappear as soon as the grass gets above a few inches tall.

The turkey has a brain the size of a pea. It will work.
