Shocked to see all red again....

Me putting in for New Mexico every year.
I can't even get on the website. Anyone else having issues?
Nada, zilch, zero. But hey ..I can buy a good land owner tag for the bargain price of 6-10k!!
Having issues also. Plus having problems accessing website. LOL!
anyone get a successful email? I didn't and I can't get in on the website. Ugh! I'm guessing its red anyway but many put me out of my misery.
RED for me. Unsuccessful. I'm sort of relieved since I've already drawn in WY and AZ.
Looks like the website is crashing....
Dead red here as well. NM never fails to disappoint :-)
Mine had more red then most blood trails..... at least my Amex card will be back to normal.
Yea I hate seeing all red but if I ever got all green my wallet would cry.
elk ,deer .and barbary sheep there is a god
Not even Half Pint's luck is good enough to draw NM, she is red as well.
Holy crap...NM Bound!!!!
Getting a call from your hunting partner at 5:30 AM is a great way to start the Day!
I can't even get on to check
Lost track how many years now....but still "0" for New Mexico!
My son drew an Oryx tag!! Nothing like leaving Manitoba in January and heading to NM!
Condolences to those who did not draw, Congrats to those that did, and good luck to those who haven't been able to check!
No luck for elk, but drew an oryx tag!
Green is good - 3rd choice!! Pumped to be taking a friend on his first elk hunt!!
Holy Crap!!!!! I put in for a 3rd choice with near 100% draw odds...... still freaking red.
Elkmtngear must be living right. What’s that 2 tags in three years in N.M.
LINK that is what happened to me last year. This year I am all green with first choice elk and deer.
All red here. First time applying, so expectations were not high.
Yeeeehaaaaa!!! Unit 52 elk!!!
Drew deer, no elk...still happy!!!
"Elkmtngear must be living right. What’s that 2 tags in three years in N.M".
It's my hunting partner, LINK...he drew the Gila in 2015 as well! He's got the "golden touch" !
You looking for a third wheel in the next draw? ;)
0 for my entire life in New Mexico so far...
Congrats to all that drew
MN to NM bound for second season archery! Sorry to hear for you that didn’t draw. But it is my first green! ??
Unit 52 early archery for me....
Valle Vidal 2nd archery for me
Headed back to the Gila.. first draw since 2011.
Green....Gila elk....1st time.
Hey SplitLimb! Get the horses ready :)
Unsuccessful! Congratulations to all that managed to draw a tag in my favorite state to hunt in. Now we have to get creative looking for a place to hunt elk in 2019. Kind Regards LaGriz
No Elk Tag for me, but drew a Barbary sheep tag in January!! Two friends drew 1st season 16E. Best of luck to all that Drew tags!
First time ever to apply... I WON THE LOTTERY!!! Elk 2-223 first season!
Anyone that would be willing to offer assistance I would do the same for Kansas tags! Good luck to all!
I just drew the same exact tag as you, jingalls. Hunted the unit in 2012 and excited to get back (and hopefully have a different result!).
Sawwwweeeeeeeet! I live about 8-9 hour drive to reach it. So I’m already planning scouting trips. What’s it like? Never hunted NM!
In this state you are supposed to decide if you want red or green. I ordered green and got red.
Got super lucky (again!) and my 14yo son drew his first elk tag, Valle Vidal. 0.6% odds for NR. That just about matches my archery 16D Gila tag last year! Love it! Doing this one unguided, so hopefully Valle Vidal is as magic as everyone says it is!
BowmanMD that’s AMAZING! Congrats to you and your son. I hope he has an exceptional hunt!!!
Thx Bob! A buddy drew a muzzy tag in a unit you are very familiar with too! Can't wait to call him one in!
Some of you guys are definitely living right! Some awesome tags drawn here!
Well, if nothing else, I'm consistent. I've still never drawn NM elk.
All red for me also. Did get my dad drawn for a great rifle hunt though! Congratulations to the successful few! And good luck!
I drew 3 times in the early 90's and zilch since...including this year...I'll be getting too old to ever go back if it doesn't happen soon.
deserthunter and BowmanMD y'all are in for a treat. I drew VV first year I ever put in. Still remains the most amazing elk hunt I've ever been on by far.
jingalls, Unit 13 is a crazy unit. The habitat is very, very diverse. From your typical elk habitat (think meadows and timber) to straight up rocks and desert...and the elk can be in any of it. Don't know how it's changed over the last seven years, but there weren't a lot of elk there and you had to work hard to locate them. But there are some absolute monsters in that unit.
Red, but with my choices no real surprise. Utah only one left then it’s a search for a great cancellation or leftover hunt on a LO tag. Maybe this year I’ll wait until it’s really late and see what opens up. I’ve seen some good deals once I’m already booked.
Nope, that’s ok though, be a lil busy as it is...Congrats to those who drew!
green means go , going to new mexico this fall unit 17 - muzzleloader - elk , things are falling in place
I drew at tag in Unit 17, NM starting Jan.1st, guided hunt.
I drew last about 5 years ago and the hunt was guided and was an epic fail! I was hoping I might get some input on everyone's thought on that unit and if my odds might get any better in unit 17, tips, pointers, all is appreciated.
to clarify, for Mule deer unit 17
Antelope for me. 8 applications and pulled one great tag. 26 applications within my family circle and got 3 tags total
The streak ends this year. This will be the first year since 2008 without an elk tag. I knew it couldn't last. I did manage to get a January deer tag, private land, no surprise, and a February off range oryx tag. I will be packing elk for my brother in the Caldera this year. Pretty excited about that.
Drew 6B Caldera archery still in shock!
For once, I’m relieved I didn’t draw. Never been so happy to see “red”... ;). Congrats to those that drew.
Congrats to all the successfuls!! Dan, you sounded like you were in shock yesterday:)
Nothing here for me or my dad. Congrat' to those who drew. I can help in 15, 36 and 52
Latest nonrefundable fee chased me off. Same reds since 2011 but no charge. Much better odds elsewhere. Drew 6 straight NR tags in the 90's but times have changed since outfitter welfare.
Nothing for me but that's okay, I have a Wyoming tag and still waiting for longshot Utah results...
Looking forward to another elk hunt in NM. Cant believe i drew it again. Figured twice was my lifetime limit.
Headed to Valle Vidal from PA for the first archery season archery with my buddy. We drew the DIY NR tags ....just could not believe it. Still walking around in disbelief a day later.

Drew a 36-37 rifle tag and I guess that is the land of the giants...super excited...all ears for someone that knows the unit I never stepped foot in it but will numerous times before season
What’s a 36 - 37 rifle tag ?
Maybe like a "Grant County" license up here ???
Pretty sure you have either a 36 or a 37 license but not one for both.
Zip for mr. swampokie. Thought this was the year for 34 second. Guess not congrats to u lucky lottery winners. New mexico has become a super tag lottery state. Even for the units that used to be lower tier. Maybe a waiting period if drawn? Seeing way too many people saying they've saw the red glow for 8,9,10 even 12 years. Even with non refundable rabbit license record 209000 applicants. Tuff draw but congrats to all u that "won" a tag
Makes you wonder how many of those 209,000 applications were legit...?
36 -37 Pronghorn tag oppps
Buddy drew Valle Caldera! Looks like I am tagging along!
Can we finally stop the nonsense talk about price hikes, cc fees, and non refundable licenses, reducing the number of applicants?
Bob hope springs eternal. Sometimes it's easier to believe a beautiful lie then the ugly truth that odds across the west are steadily getting worse almost without exception.
I wonder how many applied this year not knowing their small game license will not be refunded this time.
Congrats to all who drew!
look at the bright side, I just quoted 6500 for unit wide LO tag.
Could be worse... if you’ve got some extra money you can be hunting in some great elk units in NM. In AZ you either draw or your SOL and I’ve been SOL in AZ for going on 16 straight years.
Congrats for those of you with the draw. I was unsuccessful on first attempt, wasn't too surprised. Especially since we applied in a group of 3. Probably will avoid entering as a group in the future. Good luck to you all.
I got Elk 2-232 for late Sep. It was third choice. Pretty excited to go. Never hunted NM before. Any advice?
That’s the second bow hunt in 15 ......Great tag for sure. If your thinking of an outfitter call Mick Chapel and his boys in Quemado, NM
Rut in 15 for a third choice. Swinging for the fences. I like your style.
Sorry ohio, I did the same thing!-( I’m a newby at it and this was the first time I’ve ever applied for NM. Sounds like spinedoc was in the same boat. When you look at your account that’s how it’s listed. We will get up to speed with the rest of you!
I LOL at the NM draw thread every year. Lots of posts that say "First time I put in for NM and drew some hunt in Valle Vidal. Never hunted elk before. Not looking for your honey hole but......" Never fails. Congrats to you guys who were lucky enough to draw!
I think all us nm app veterans should apply for unit 9 as first choice next year. Looks like all the unit 15 16 34 tags have been gobbled up by newbies as a third choice. Some not even sure which region the unit is in! LOL
I was pretty excited, for sure. I have never pulled a Western tag before this, so it's a pretty good feeling after years of waiting. Now starts the thinking, planning and map searching! My PA whitetail rig should be up to the task, although I will try to convince better half that my 05 Switchback may be ready for an upgrade. I may have to take her along, which would be great. If anyone who hunted 15 in years past has any input, I'd be glad to hear it. This should be a great opportunity and I am in disbelief I got it. I was hoping one of my kids would get the Mulie tags in the youth draw, but hey, this works too!
What’s amazing is how many NR’s draw great tags with only 6%. I’m lucky to draw an elk tag once every 4-5 years. This makes 19 years without a deer tag!
Swampokie. I struck out on that tag. Lol. If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have none at all.
not looking for you honey hole BUT .......LOL
I’m no newbie, been hunting or trying to draw 16B since the early 90’s. This will be my 10th time drawing that tag, just been drawing on an 8 year cycle since USO sued N.M. We drew as a party of 3 NR unguided. Ready to get back in there to see if anything has changed since 2011.
No luck for me however my friend drew a Unit 15 Archery tag !!
Looks like I’ll be back again..
Congrats wheels! The only thing that has changed since now and then, is I have hunted there and reduced the elk herd size ;)
