The paw of the Vandal coming down.
I wanted to kill this one today. Pulled a cam and set it on top of the lock box. Came back after a few hours of shed hunting and had to look for the camera in the dirt and debris. (yes the date is off by about six years: cheap cam)
Heading out May 6th for our annual spring bear camp. Hopefully kill eight to ten moose calf eaters.
Good Luck to everyone.
Lady Bowhunter and I are sitting this Spring's Season out but will be back for another round in Spring 2020.
Good luck to all I am also not bear hunting this year but 2020 look out.
Fun time of year, gunna dust of the experience today, last shot I took was at my deer last fall
This is a great thread. Love seeing all the happy hunters with their bears. Hoping we can add another 20 pics to this thread starting mid May. Let's see if Zebrakiller can make it #1 from us.
Good luck to all the bear hunters! I'm looking forward to following and posting on this thread.
Good luck everyone! I’m starting today.
Nick, you may want to start with a basket of flowers and chocolates for your ever so patient wife!
Good luck to all this Spring! Baits are out and rockin’. Wish I had clients here now, gonna be a long 2 weeks until they start hunting. Be safe out there boys and girls.
Ambush...Have you seen the bears Steph kills? She should be buying Nick the flowers and chocolates! ;)
Looking forward to seeing everyone's success!
What weeks are you guys who are hunting this year going, and where at? I like these threads
I have Kota. Doesn’t take all season for that lady to do a man size job!! But I’ll stick with saying that Nick is getting a way better deal.
Evening of May 6th starts BBD’s (dead bear day’s) for us.
I may go this weekend, but if not I'll for sure be hunting the weekend after. Good luck to everyone!
Camper’s loaded and headed to Wyoming. Got 5 weeks to get it done. Love this retirement thing.
First spring in 15/20 years I won’t be chasing bears... just can’t do it physically..kinda sucks. Good luck.. safe hunting!!
Going second week of June to Aulneau Peninsula Ontario fish and hunt I think 1st time he’s doing a spring hunt could be good fingers crossed
Good luck and look forward to the posts and pics!!!

Kurt’s bear just before he met Kurt.
Ran into the village and have some service. Lots of bears, one dead now. Partner’s bear. My turn next. And six more tags show up Friday. Five adult grizzlies spotted so far. Going to spend the afternoon spotting goats then back to bears for the evening.
Lazy days.
Lazy days.
Way to get us on the board Rod! Congrats brother!
Kurt is first on the board! Excellent! Congrats, can't wait to hear the rest.
We are live now! Congrats! first bear down. Should start stacking up now. Keep em coming boys.
Only saw one shooter tonight and he didn’t want to be a Bowsite Celeb. One big grizzly right by camp. Hope he’s moved on.

Love hunting bears in the spring...
This is a good board for the "independent" and DIY bear hunters to post their pics.
Grats Kurt. Good looking bear Cory.
JL We are an equal opportunity thread that celebrates bears taken guided or unguided, dependent or independent, hunter or outfitter postings. We really don't discriminate here. Just want to see all those successful hunts represented.

Bou Bound... exactly. Post em up. All of them!
Bou, if the successful hunter posts on their harvest pic on the outfitter threads above and then here...it's redundant. By not posting their pic on the above outfitters thread, you're taking a little advertising and recognition opportunity from that particular outfitter who may be a BS sponsor....unless you make the successful hunter mention the outfitter in their post here....or the outfitter has to do it himself. Otherwise, the recognition for the outfitter gets diminished or lost. Plus the above outfitters have hunters who are not BS members so they won't post their pics here....unless the above outfitters go back and do it. The outfitters that do run threads here do a great job for their clients, BS members and the site....why not let them get the undivided recognition? I'm putting myself in the outfitters shoes....they go thru the trouble of starting and running their threads before the season even starts and then they have put the "money shot" here after the season starts!?? Under that idea...why should they even start up their threads? IMO...let them have their own threads and DIY-ers and/or other unlisted outfitters here.....at least that seems the logical simple way to do it. My 2-cent observation.
JL - there is no Bowsite policy against posting the same picture twice in different places. Heck, Mike U. just did it and proved it is possible. Gotta love that Canadian ingenuity.
I just want to get more on here than last year's 238 and know that Chris, Mike, Alexis, Tom, and Dave as outfitters can be a big chunk of that.
Bou, Mike did it because you told him too as you did others. No worries though....just something I noticed over the last few years I thought might be a little counterproductive from an organizing and outfitters perspective. All is cool.....
I agree JL... While it’s nice to pull up this success thread each year and see all the guys/gals with their bears, these guys like Alexis Desjardins, Chris from Pine Acres, Ukrainitz, Craig from North Mountain in MB and so on have all they can do each day to manage their outfitting businesses and to make sure their hunters get the bear of their dreams - which they always seem to do. These guys get very little time to sleep & eat this time of year. I’m happy they take the time to do their own threads. The success thread is nice - nice pics but each day when I check in, I go to the outfitter’s threads first.
Noah's Manitoba bear. May 7, 2019 6'9 square
Remember guys this is all just for fun to fuel our passion for bowhunting! Boubound has a seemingly endless love for it. I'm glad to participate and it helps me to be also in a thread that lives throughout the whole year. Let's make it 500 bears!! Whoohoo!!
This is a great board for everyone to post pics! I love seeing all of these in one place. I hope this surpasses last years pic count. Thanks, Dutch
#2 from BC was a brute...
Congrats Cory! Great week of bear hunting for you!
Wow. Great Cory. Monster.
Nice! And btw, if I was an outfitter I’d be thrilled to have my name and photos in two threads.....and I’m quite confident the website owner loves the extra clicks!
Fantastic BC bears Kota!! You’re killing big ones and way up north here we are hardly seeing any shooters. Very slow so far. Only two down out of a eight tags.

Just back and leaving again tomorrow. For the first time, I didn't kill one or two bears on this annual trip. Had one shot opportunity and blew it. Saw an average of about twenty bears a day but few shooters. More grizzlies than I’ve ever seen! Kurt keeps stats, so maybe he’ll post that. Don’t have pics of one bear yet.
Not sure I should've passed on this one!?!?
You are aging Jay, maybe you need glasses?
Some great bears on here. Jason being from Manitoba you may get away with that but if that bear came in on bait I would be sprayin and Prayin!!!’
We know your track record Jason. My money is on you to get a better one by year end. And it will probably not be black.
Ginger, she was a regular at one bait all last season, first again this year... She's fun to watch..

Damn nice bears there.. we've been running some of our baits in Idaho for a few weeks now..... Snow just left so things will heat up quick. Memorial Day weekend hopefully have some to add to this thread...
Jim.... You boys are hard on bears! Great pics. Hope she lures a big one in for you. Dead bears walking.
Tough one to pass up Carcus. At least for me anyway. I can only imagine what else you have visiting that bait!

Very nice looking bears. No need to look at BC- Kota taking out all the seed !!
Nice bears Cory !!
Some big skulls pictured here!! Most of the bears we kill in northern BC seem to have short muzzles, which robs about 1” plus of measurement. I can’t break the magical 20”.
Kota, that second bear looks long in the face. Southern BC bear?
Yes Ambush...Southern BC along the Fraser. The bears there seem to be long in the body and the skulls match. Funny, the bears I shoot in Manitoba are short and fat, and their skulls match, being very wide in general. These BC bears are LONG bodied and their skulls are also long but much narrower.
Kota-man, where are you hunting in Manitoba? The western edge seems to produce bears with long skulls and big ears. Eastern Manitoba bears generallyhave the short wide heads.
Area genetics seem to decide what you get, predominately. I didn’t start measuring skulls until I started bow hunting them, but I don’t know if any of the many dozens I killed with a gun before that would have dried up to be 20”. When I started killing bears, we got five tags and I also killed nuisance bears. Our local biologist was pretty adamant that if we hunted moose, we had better be killing bears too.
I may have to go to one of the Big Head areas to finally get a 20”.
In Manitoba, I hunt the Southern Border of Riding Mountain...fairly “Central” to “West Central”...
Son said it was big enough and I agreed. Saskatchewan

While I've been busy with bear camp, my son and wife took care of their own sites. Luke passed up a very good boar about 2 weeks ago and I told him he may regret it. Late last week I was able to sit next to him when this bear walked in! He has no regrets!! His third, and largest bear so far! Perfect shot, 30 yard recovery, happy kid, and proud dad!
Grats Ned. Where'd you get him?
Jim.......You can bet your ass I aint done in Idaho! Too much fun to quit. We'll be up Friday morning if Lance left any bears alive. Your boy is a killer, happy for him and can't wait to shake his hand. Good job to both Father and son, I know the work you put in. WAY TO GO!

Must have woke this guy up as I rode past him in a blizzard (elk hunting). Ran up a steep slope and stopped. Didn't seem to know where we were, so I put a sneak on him as he ambled up the mountain and was able to close the gap and put an arrow into him. Great bonus!
