KS turkey hunt kinda live
Turkey

Well I’m probably completely Jinxing myself but I’ll try to give a little live KS Turkey action. Or no action maybe...
We are in Northeast KS at a friends place. I’ve hunted here several times now with mixed success. I’m bowhunting, and I brought a young guy that works for me as well. We don’t have much work, so might as well go turkey hunting! He is shotgunning.
We have camp set up and gonna try to roost a bird in a few min. Saw several while setting blinds and showing him around, and had 3 strutter a 100yards from camp just as were setting up! Maybe that is bad juju too ;) he tried to put a move on them but didn’t work out.
I’ll try to give a couple updates from the blind tomorrow. We will be hunting through midday on Monday.

Home away from home for 4 days
—Jim
If you look real close you can see some strutters!
—-Jim
Decoys ready for deployment!!!!
Thanks Hunt, but that may be a little premature! Maybe my 3rd jinx! ;)
—Jim
Damn it guys, you are killing me!!!!
We just walked up the field and have one roosted (pretty specific area) and saw one still out in the field too. Sending rhe kid down that way to try to get one of them in the morning.
Could be rain in the early morning, but should be good after that.
—Jim
SCREWDRIVER TIME!!!!
Just trying to change things up for ya Jim! Good luck!
Yep, totally jinxed. Probably won’t see another bird all weekend.
You set up camp next to their strut zone lol
Thanks guys. Poor phone service in this blind, not much going on. Some gobbeling a little to the south early, but nothing since. I’m gonna sit it out till early afternoon and see what happens.
Similar for the Kid, heard some in the trees, but slow since. Try to get some more (boring) pics out when I get to higher ground.
—Jim
Get ‘em Jim. After the hurt you put on them in OK, some birds are about to die!
They'll fire up around 11 Jim. Thanks for taking us hunting!
Although I am not in Kansas at home I have been seeing multiple toms without hens after about 10 am so might be about to get good !!
Good luck! Nice trailer set-up.
Not much to report, hunted till 1:30 take a break and get back out about 3:30. No pics of turkeys (cause I didn’t see any) so I’ll fill with some Kansas scenery!

Morning set up on a small food plot in a little bottom. North end of propety.
—Jim
Looking south from hill top. Mainly pasture and “hollars”. Little Ag on the south end and a few small food plots.
If it looks cool and cloudy that is because it is!!!
—jim
Good luck and thanks for taking us along!
You’re killing me. I’d have already missed one by now
Bake— I vividly recall a firm and generous invitation. You chose to keep your job, stay married, and not have your mother kill you. I cannot be held accountable for your poor decision making!!!! ;)
—Jim
I vividly recall the same ;). I was more worried about staying married . . . ;)
Lots of hours in the blind today. One lone hen came in to 25 or so this evening, one raccoon and 2 deer, who by the way don’t really like blinds and/or turkey decoys!
Tomorrow is a new day.
—Jim
Bake you should be here. I know where there’s a sleeping turkey.....
going to be some feathers flying soon
Good luck hopefully today you'll get it done.
Tough morning. I’m sitting in the biggest Ag field on the property. Fairly big, but fairly skinny. Always birds around here. Except today! Heard one gobble across the creek, and rain for a good steady 45-1hr earlier. Not exciting at all.
—Jim
This mornings set-up.
—jim
Did pick up a nice shed though.
—jim
I'd imagine the ticks are driving you guys insane?
I honesty have not been in the woods a lot. Basically sitting in a blind. My partner is out after them (with shotgun) and he has had a few, but not too crazy. Yet...
—Jim
Well, another uneventfull evening. I had one hen come by, and heard another yelpling. No gobbles.
My partner had a couple gobble, but nothing close and nothing wanting to play.
On the bright side i did go back and found the mate to that shed this afternoon. Nice set.
Weather looks better tomorrow morning, and we have till noon or so.
Hammertime. Nice sheds. Hunt
Hope you had some luck, Jim!
Well, after an optimistic start we just couldn’t get it done. Some birds around, but they didn’t want to play. The weather wasn’t ideal, but not horrible.
I hold Huntman and APauls completely responsible for my inability to kill a turkey and bad luck. I feel that they both owe me a turkey hunt! ;)
Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn’t. There is always next year! Thanks for following along and the well wishes.
—Jim
Kansas sunrise last day.
—Jim
Nice pics Jim! You need a turkey just drive on up here to SD. We'll kill one!
I think you owe me a turkey hunt Jim :) Hunt
I'd rather take home the shed antlers than another turkey anyhow:)
Jim owes everyone a turkey hunt!
Dang Jim, sorry about the turkeys, but I'm pretty sure Hunt was responsible for shed #1 and I'll claim shed #2. You can thank us later, they help when you aren't able to notch a tag. I could give you a turkey hunt, but seeing as I've never set up for them, it probably would be fairly similar minus the hens, the gobbles, and the sheds. But I could surely add some ticks!! ;)
Touché Hunt, I’m sure I owe you a turkey or two, but you may want to wait to ollect till I become a little better turkey hunter!
I told you to come on Muche, but no, you wanted to stay home and hunt Griz Bears...
For the record I left the sheds with my friend Kevin, his place his horns. Still cool to find them.
—Jim
And for the inquiring minds that want to know. The sheds measured 160+- assuming a 16” inside spread.
—Jim
Hard to tell from the angle, but it appears you’re long arming them ;-)
There's a huge gobbler living on my farm in KS. I went out there this evening to stock my pond and put in boundary posts for my food plot. He strutted and gobbled and never left the field with me working only a few hundred yards away. I've tried to call him in before but gave up. I figure he'll help make some new hatched chicks pretty smart
