I have some old skull plates that I had let the skin/hair dry on from many years gone by, I want to get those clean so I can hang 'em ... what the best way to do this without damage to the skull plate and antlers ....

I use a big pot of boiling water and throw in some Dawn dish soap or equivalent, it doesn’t take long maybe an hour.

Powdered laundry detergent has emulsifiers that can break up old particles. I would add a little with the Dawn soap.
