What heads are you shooting this year
Same as the past 2...SlickTrick ViperTricks.
VPA I believe but still deciding
Still shooting the old style 150 grain Snuffers. Have a couple 125 SS snuffers in my quiver on some slightly heavier arrows as well but the old ones are shooting great and they leave a nasty hole.
Tried and true...G5 Striker 100Gr
100 grain 3 blade muzzy’s.
German kinetic 125XL Magnus stinger 125 Maybe sevr????
Just made the switch....11 or 12 elk seasons with Slick Tricks going to Iron Will solid 100s on 28” FMJ 330 deep six with 55 gr outsert. Expensive setup but gonna be breathtaking...hopefully to a big bull.
G5 Strikers and the Iron Will's I was fortunate to win.
Might bite the bullet and try some 200gr Iron Wills. Hunting with a recurve so going for any advantage I can get.
Lots of Magnus users! The girlfriend is using 2 blade 125gr stringers. Still not sure how it’s all going to come together for her, but I have a gut feeling we’re going to find out in about 40 days!
Pointy sharp ones.....called Black Hornets. Mike Sohm.....I'm not worthy!!!! ;)
Dare i say it, Vortex, first elk hunt, gotta go with what ya know..
Montec G5 CS 100s. No reason to change.
Matt
Iron Wills 100 grain vented!
ElkNut/Paul
Magnus Black Hornets 125 gr. on 5mm FMJs
I'ma use RazorTricks again this year
I'm thinking Montec CS 100 gr. but my mind can be changed. Drew bull elk tag for Michigan, only get one per lifetime.
Still deciding but it’s between northerns and vpa leaning heavily to the vpa side though.
Same thing as every year. Some variation of a Rage 2 blade.
Slick Trick 100's Standard
Simmons Tree Shark 190 grain
I'm between a G5 Deadmeat and a Rage. Probably the G5 will be on the #1 arrow.
Musacchia NBS100 or 125 grain Van Dieman's. Both are flying great from my stickbows and the Athen's Ridge 32.
Recurve: VPA 3 blade 200 grain
Compound: Slick Trick and Sevr 100 grn, both will be in the quiver.
Magnus Black Hornet Ser Razr 100gr
Iron Will 125 gr. Vented.
Hellrazors or Walmart Muzzys.
50 lb recurve: Magnus stingers 4 blade 125 gr. plus 100 gr. brass insert.
45 lb. recurve same but 150 gr. brass insert.
First few shots were perfect, dart like flight.
Standard Slick Trick 100’s.
Wasp Jak Hammers, Rage Trypans or Hypodermics...
Wasp Jak-Hammers for my adult kids. No tag for me this year. Just the pack mule!
Haven’t really decided which arrow setups I’m using yet.
Have arrows that fly great with 200 grain points - 160 grain Snuffers with 50 grain steel inserts (‘cause I still have plenty!) or 200 grain Cutthroats.
Have another set of arrows that fly great with 150 grains up front - have VPA’s, Snuffers, Cutthroats, Wensel Woodsmen, Grizzlies and a slew of other options in that weight class.
Haven’t quite tuned up the arrows for the selfbow yet but they will be a wearing sharp 2-blades.
I lied, VPA will have to wait for whitetial and mule deer, tuned up my 55lb TallTines recurve to shoot 150 grain heads and only a 480gr arrow so it’s Magnus stinger 2 blades
VPA 3 blade 125 grain unvented.
I’ll try Iron Will once they make an unvented BH. Unvented blades are too loud for my mid-range shots from my slow hunting setup.
I guess I’m the lone guy in the woods shooting shuttle t’s
Since when doesn’t IW make nonvented??
The few posted pictures of Ironwill heads in this thread are non vented
strickland helix....but damn I want some solid Iron wills.
