Until I head up to 10,600' and set up camp. I am so forked up right now and worthless for much of anything but checking BS for new posts every 10-15 minutes.......I'm a mess.
Maybe I'll start going through my gear and reorganizing my pack 5000 times tonight. Or drink heavily so the passage of time is a less painful blur.
You would think after 12 or so seasons this would pass and become easier.
My Wife's annual comment to me around this time of Year, in my state of distraction: "You're already there" !
It's a burden we all bear.
I'm with your Jordan. Hard to focus on anything but elk. My brain is just running a mental movie half of the time with various elk hunting scenarios with different variables and how I react. Feels like the movie "Edge or Tomorrow." The other half of the time I'm trying to think of the one thing I'm missing on my gear list. Dang...I know I'm forgetting something to pack.
Sitting this year out so counting on y'all to tell us some stories. Good luck folks!
I have been this way for the last 3 months. According to my girlfriend I don't have a hunting hobby, its a full on obsession.
Hmmmmm.......Will it seems to me you will most likely have some stories to tell in the end. ;)
I'm with you Jordan. I sat out last year, so I'm a'rarin' to go
My pack is full of weight for training right now, so I can't start packing.
In 2017 we packed my bull off a terrible mountain. I swore I would never go back up there. The rock slide to get up it is sketchy. But, it's a good spot. And always holds elk because it is hard to get to. . . . So guess where we plan on going first? :)
I hope we kill 2 up there. Even if it kills me. . .
I am also sitting out archery elk this year. I agree with Will please keep us posted and take lots of photos!! Hunt
Unfortunately I am sitting out the season until 11/22. Whatever you guys do....don't have heart surgery. It screws up your bowhunting.
Ok whiskey boys. What gives? Elk season and otcWill and HUNTMAN aren’t chasing elk?
Rumor has it there will be sheep involved barebow...
21 days from today will be headed to the high country as well. Beyond excited at this point in time.
With Will and Hunter out, there should be a surplus of bulls for next year!
Rumor has it that Will and Hunt are after even larger ungulates this fall!
Pulled my cams and started sealing left overs for elk truck camp meals......just need a big enough pot to boil the water to reheat these suckers.
