I’ve always used 2nd skin when any signs of hot spots start up. Just wondering if there’s better options? Thanks

Leukotape - Put it on before you have a blister. First sign of a hotspot or even better before you head out if you know where you have a problem spot. It sticks great you can leave it on multiple days. Carry in your pack wrapped on a lighter. I had issues scouting and started using it and walked 100 miles plus over a two weeks hunting keep it on heals at all times and a big toes part of the time no blisters.

xxxxxxx10 Luekotape . I agree with John. Great stuff. used it this week on my heals. no issues. The product is---- REF # 76168-00

There are no other options that is as good. Paul

xxxxxxx100 Luekotape that stuff is amazing. it will protect your feet from blisters or you could repair a helicopter rotor with it and enable a fly out. it is unreal.

Another +1 for Leukotape!!! Just used it for almost 2x weeks in he Kamchatka mountains totally abusing my feet the entire time - no blisters

yep, also great for keeping a bitch sticker (That's a bandaid) on when hunting, wrap small cuts with it and keep trucking. I superglue small cuts and even blisters if they pop. then put Leukotape over it. it works great!

I’ve got a pretty original idea! I would recommend Leukotape. It’s the best, and lasts for days!

If you think you are getting a blister or have a blister and are going to apply LT. Take a small piece of LT and stick it to the sticky side....so in the blister area you have a non-sticky area over that area. If you stick LT to a blistered area you will rip your skin right off when you go to remove it. It`s some serious stuff as mentioned....

Add it like this instead of carrying a whole roll.

John, I carry the whole roll and sell it by the inch at a premium on the mountain. Can pay for a hunt that way sometimes ;)

I guess I’ll need to be more entrepreneurial on the mountain. Had buddy put me on to it. I bummed some off of him the first time I used then order a roll.

I live in a town of 100,000 plus and could not find it for sale. Had to order off of Amazon.

Leukotape but in a pinch black electrical tape works pretty well too.

Duct tape! When I was in the Army I would get blisters bad! I found out quickly that if I had a hot spot slap a piece of duct tape on it and I wouldn’t get a blister. Still holds true today. Sometimes I’d use both moleskin & duct tape. Apply moleskin then duct tape over it.

The first bit of prevention is making sure your boots fit. If your heel has any slip, in any direction, that’s gonna eventually cause a blister. Moisture can also be a problem. I have only tried mole skin and I like it. I almost always carry a spare set of socks in my pack. As the day goes on, your boot may loosen up. Re-tie your laces to eliminate any foot slippage.

leukotape makes duct tape look like scotch tape. no comparison.

The absolute best way to prevent blisters, is to wear footware that fits. And break in whatever you are wearing well ahead of time. It really is that simple.......unless you have issues with your feet of course.....

The best blister prevention is conditioning your feet to your boots. Wear them a lot. I’ve never had a hotspot with boots from Danner, Keen, Wolverine, Salomon. Break your boots and your feet in.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have a good pair of kenetrek boots that fit well. My problem is my feet sweat real bad through the day, also hunting pretty steep country so beats them up with the sweating over the trip. LT is gonna be in the pack.

Do you guys who are using Leukotape leave it on for several days or do you put fresh tape on every day ? I’m thinking guys who are camped on a mountain probably leave it on a While .

From: JohnMC
29-Aug-19
I have left it on for several days at a time. No problems

What link said. I wear my boots daily for the 6 weeks leading into my first fall hunt and I never get blisters.

leukotape can stay on for a long time and get as wet as you want.

Guess I’ll leave the Duck tape home this year and try some LT.

From: TreeWalker

I had very good luck with duct tape with staying in place for several days inside my boot though the leukotape appears will conform to curves better while remaining without wrinkles. More better. Making the change.

I’ve had the edge of duct take roll over exposing glue that got into my awesome Darn Tough socks and I didn’t notice and after a wash I couldn’t get it out. Saved my feet and I was on the tundra after caribou so I’d do it again but it isn’t the be all end all

^^^^ As fellow Bowsiters have said, and I can attest to how effective Leukoplast tape is, pre-taping heels and other potential hot spot areas with Leukoplast tape BEFORE the very first step of the very first day, whether hiking or hunting, is The Way Forward
