Went on a training run with 6 young llamas and a couple veterans the other day. Ended up with a 24 mile loop in 3 days they did really well. We were overrun with the wily elk being almost in the rope line barking at the strange wooly creatures . Velvet was coming along nicely on the bigger bulls.

Very Cool!
Train the Llamas to bark back...and you've got yourself a Rodeo! ;^)

Kool Pix!
I can remember some sleepless nights when the elk would come around my Llama pack string in the high country and they would go crazy all night long!
I don't think they are familiar with the scent of a Llama like a horse or mule??
Good luck, Robb

They prompt reactions from about everything they get spotted by, horses in particular! Came into WY camp after dark and looked in on my 7 llamas on tethers, problem was I only had 6 llamas with me... then one bugled at me. Huge club horned bull wandered around getting tangled up in their ropes scent checking each male ... just in case. Way past sight pin seeing light had gone though.
