What are your elk hunt dates and what state/s? Full moon is 9/14 this year (if that matters to you).
I head to Wyoming after work on 9/10 and will hunt till the 28th if needed. Taking the big tent this year for a nice comfy base camp.
Leave tomorrow! Northern NM in our usual spot. I will be on the hill until I kill a bull or the 13th of September, whichever comes first!
8/30-9/3 then every weekend after until the wife and I both kill elk or season ends in Colorado.
CO, heading to camp and glass tomorrow. Hunting solo for elk and bear the first two weeks, then with a buddy from MO the last two weeks. New area I've never hunted before so pretty geeked!
New Mexico, September 6-15th. Hitting the road on the 4th!
CO every day I can fit in between 8/30 and 9/29 then again for 2nd rifle.
Colorado, September 6-16. Driving straight through from Wisconsin!
Leaving the 5th for CO. Should be hunting on the 6th. I'm not sure when we'll head home. I'm blocked off until the 16th. I imagine my buddy will want to leave before then. We'll see.
I'm jealous of that tent! I'll be living out of a little 2 man . . . . . I'm dreading that part of it
New Mexico 9/15 to 9/28 or so.
Heading out on Friday the 13th, what could go wrong with that???
New Mexico, leaving August 30th and coming home when I kill or th 14th. Then Montana Sept 21ish till ?
Day hunts throughout the season, but took 9/9 - 9/16 off to hit it hard. Northern Colorado.
Bake, are you backpacking in?
Colorado. Leave tomorrow solo and I have the entire month to hunt except I have to come home one night for a dental appt. Best of luck to all.
Heading up Thursday evening to set up camp and do some glassing the day before opener.
Leave 8-29, season starts 9-7, will hunt till 10-5 if I have to.
Starting Friday will be out the whole month with little down time! I will be on 5 elk hunts in Idaho, all OTC, god I love OTC, it offers such great challenges! Good luck everyone & may the Slow Play be your best bud out there!

Idaho- Leaving 9/6 and returning no later than 9/23. Embrace the full moon!
In Colorado now. Be here til end of season. Retirement has its advantages. Saw a herd of 150 yesterday mid day in the wide open. Beautiful. Start hunting Saturday in same general area I've been lucky enough to take a bull last 6 years in a row. Can it continue??? Using THE broadhead, G5 striker 100 gr. :)
I'm headed out on the 9th to hunt solo until I tag our, decide to come home or something urgently needs my attention at home/work. Hopefully at least a week. Hunting a new secret, overlooked, Colorado OTC spot. I have it reserved for myself only so don't even think about following me. Well it seems like a secret two weeks out. Hopefully after I'm there, I'll not wonder why I didn't just try to hunt in Walmart's parking lot. :)
Leave on 6th for 8 days in Wyoming can't get her fast enough!!!
Darrell, a camp of 14 guys from WI is just down the road, right behind the camp of 9 guys from MN with the big generator, freezer, outdoor stereo and Christmas lights all around their camp. Just in case you get lonely! ;-)
And Lou left some toilet paper behind that log you like to sit on..........
Going to Idaho, getting into the woods on the 13th, out of the woods on the 22nd.
Leaving for Wyoming on 9/4 and returning 9/15. This is the year we get my buddy his first elk!

Hunting my home state of Colorado this weekend and then Sept. 6-10. I prefer to go for a whole week but the guys I'm going with can't do it. Good luck to you all!
I leave WI on September 13th after spending the day with my son and wife. Will be hunting essentially the 15th-26th in one of my favorite places on the planet, Wyoming.
Leaving for Colorado tomorrow night. Spiking into a new area Friday. Told the wife I'll be home September 8th, 9th, or 10th. All depends if we have meat in the cooler!
Hunting Wyoming Sept 20-29
Colorado for the whole month, or until I have a bull down.
Matt
Leaving for Colorado on the 11th or 12th, but not hunting very long as I fly back to AK on the 22nd for a few days of caribou/moose before starting work on the 30th.
WY but haven't firmed up the dates yet.
Colorado. Get there the 15th at the latest, hunt till the 22nd.
Colorado - 2 elk tags and a bear repellent tag. Hunt all of Sept except 6 days
CO October for 2nd rifle elk. I also have a mule deer tag.
Wyoming 09/15 thru 09/29...
I'm home all month cleaning my guns -- just so the people looking to rob my house while I'm gone know. Nope, no elk hunting for me this year. (Heh)
A friend and I will be out on 9/14, Colorado OTC, he's picking me up at Denver airport The area we will be hunting is about 8.5 + - foot miles in for us. Will use a packer if we get one but,,, hopefully two on the ground. Been ordering stuff needed and having it shipped right to his house.. Early next week I'll be shipping a cooler full on food and gear to him. Ed
I leave for Wyoming Thursday night, arrive in Buffalo WY Friday and head to camp Sat am. Good luck everyone, travel safe.
I wish I had the time to hunt this year.
Leaving for WY Thursday or maybe Tuesday if I decide to sit out labor day weekend. Hunt till i kill, hopefully mid month. Then MT for a week or two. Should be a fun fall.
9/8 thru 9/15, south central colo, unit 83
9/20 - 9/28. Colorado unit 201
Wyoming 9/1-9/30, excluding a couple days here and there to come home and take care of the lawn, etc. I took my camper up last week, so it’s already in God’s Country! ;-)
MT each weekend hopefully and then 9/20-29 if I can get in to camp
Leave 9/6-7 season opens 9/13 -9/27 will be there the whole time Arizona.
MT., 9-3, to 9-23. Good luck all!
WY 9/7 thru 9/20. New area with Grizzlies.
Montana, everyday of the season, as soon as I get off of work I'll hop into the truck and head to one of my spots to hunt for the evening.
Montana, from September 7th until October 20th. Not every day, but most of them, just coming home when I get burned out, or when the weather sucks. I find that 10 days in a row is about the maximum that I can hunt without burning out, no matter how much the elk are bugling. Then I'm home for a day or two and ready to go again.
Holy crap, jdan....a breaks sheep tag and CO 201 elk! Sounds like an epic season coming up for you. Best of luck and hope you come back here with a bunch of pics and a story or two!
Colorado. Elk for myself and son opening weekend, helping on two moose hunts, more elk hunting, then second season deer. I will be home nine days in Sept.
Colorado...September 10th til bull down or the 29th!
Colorado September 1st to the 13th! Leaving PA after work Friday and driving straight through solo (with occasional naps) Good luck to everyone heading out. 4th year elk hunting has to be the charm right?
I’ve already been hunting since August 24th here in Oregon. Tag is good up until Sept. 22 I believe. I’ll never elk hunt here again though. Burned 21 NR points. Spent first four days mostly scouting and got some good water sources finally located. Running & gunning will be limited. Turning 60 next week, so plan on mostly sitting water tanks & wallows. But I have patience & the full season to hunt.
Leaving tomorrow night after work, 16 hour drive. Colorado first 9 days of season. OTC archery and bear tag. Got 4 rookies with me....gonna be interesting!
Leaving for Colorado this Friday and there till the 8th.
Leaving 9/7 or 9/8 for AZ, it seems like tomorrow.??
Hunting solo from the opener till the last hour of 9/26 unless I let the air out of a bull sooner. Have to be home 9/28. This will be the latest I’ve hunted elk in several years.
