I am a Midwest WhitetIl bowhunter but really enjoy reading about all your adventures out West. An Elk hunt is on my bucket list some day. Be safe and take the time to truly enjoy all aspects of your hunt. The scenery and sounds have to be majestic. If you are blessed with an opportunity for a kill shot even better. Can't wait to hear all the reports and thrills you all experience. Hunt hard, hunt smart and return to tell us about your adventures!

Thanks for the good vibes. I hope someone keeps the lights on around Bowsite while everyone else is elk hunting during September :)

Thx! I head out around 6 am or earlier tomorrow......4 hour drive, 2 of which is on FS roads. Just gotta throw ice and food in the coolers and roll out.
My buddy is in Hays tonight and will be on his way in the morn as well. Hoping we can find some decent campsites still open tomorrow morning. No signal so no way to do a live hunt or check in until we come down.....prolly next Friday or I may stay through Sat/Sun.
Good luck ya bunch of idiots!!!! Have FUN!

Had a terrible day at the office. Boss is a d*ck. I can’t wait for tomorrow afternoon. I might end up staying up there for the whole month and dealing with the BS when I get home on October! Haha

Heading up after my son gets home from school tomorrow. Haven't both had a tag in a couple years so I am excited.

Hey man, I'm a "midwest whitetail hunter" too! Don't wait for "someday" to come or it never will.
Pick a state, pick a unit, and just go! Its easier than you think (and cheaper) and if its truly something you want to do I guarantee that it will be worth the effort.

Rolling after work for the weekend. Son's first year with an elk tag. Mostly planning on checking a few spots out, refreshing a couple ground blinds and eating as many wild raspberries as I can find before the bears clean them up. A little elk action would be great as well but my sons a little under the weather so we will be relaxing plenty.

What Predeter said! Don’t wait! I did until I hit 49 and regret waiting so long. I turned 56 a couple months ago and for my birthday I got 3 elk tags!!! Just go for it!!!

I'm a British bowhunter living in England where archery is [currently] not a legal means of take, so I hunt in those more enlightened countries. An archery elk hunt is on the must have list...until I set foot in elk country, I learn a great deal from fellow Bowsiters and wish them good luck and good hunting for the forthcoming season
