This pic came from my Son In Law’s trailcam in southern MN. Any ideas what would cause this?
Whoever put the sun block on did a bad job.
Funny!! I said it looks like he got burned.
Looks to me like he's getting his winter coat. I have many pics of blotchy coats just like that. I'm looking at this on my phone, so maybe I cant see everything.

Agree with grunter
Yup. Either that or he was cleaning out the bottom of a 55 gallon drum of molasses...
Could it be a piebald, but with melanism instead of albino like traits?
He said they have 5 deer on camera with that marking. The one pictured is the worst.
Really? Looks like he is transitiong to his Winter coat, which happens every year to every deer.
It's fairly common as the coats change over.
Thanks for the video JL. We haven’t seen that on our trail cams over the years. Also thanks for the lack of sarcasm. Some guys just need to be dicks.
And some have completely lost whatever sense of humor they were born with....
I do have a great sense of humor. Loved the sunblock and molasses comments!
Or I should say Uff da! You had a guy worried dere, eh?
Here's a shot showing one transitioning, one almost done and one just starting
Thanks. That picture is nice and clear so it’s easier to see the change.
