Say you had access to a property in south Texas with free range nilgai!? How would you go about hunting them? Very few trees, lots of mosquite and a few ponds on this property.

Shooting a traditional bow

Fence crossings with a well hidden blind natural or pop up would be my tactic if I didn’t have access to water

A very tough animal yo kill, especially with a stick bow. Thick skin, hard to penetrate. Don't shoot them like you would a deer, you gotta hit em forward. Lungs are up front behind their shoulders. Many places in Texas bait em. A lot have been shot from stands over corn. Nilgai don't have to drink everyday, so you could be in for some long waits.

Zebrakiller has solid advice. Set up natural blinds on the trails and dung piles can be the best bet for a bull.

The property you described could have bedding areas or possibly food sources.

As far as your equipment goes - use a sharp two blade with good FOC.

A single bevel will be better than a double bevel.

Heavier arrow mass helps but FOC is the best indicator of performance and penetration.

Tight to the shoulder for double lung. Think African critters. Your bow will be enough draw weight with the right arrow setup.

Damn good eats!

Go kill one or three:-)

Hey Zebra!!

If you weighed that bad boy at 700 lbs. register it. That would be the new world record
