I went on British Air out of Logan Int. two years ago. $1100.00 RT, and the layover in Heathrow was only 2 - 3 hrs. good flight.

Best day? Or best way? If youre talking the day of the week, middle if week is usually the cheapest. If you ment the best way to book travel, I went with an actual travel agent that has a lot of experience booking flights for hunters. Tatum International Travel in Scottsdale AZ. Hope this helps answer your question.

I think the best day was September 29th, 2019.
Looks like you just missed it, sorry.

Sorry firemen, mis-read your question. Thought it said 'way' too. Tuesdays are usually the cheapest days to book flights, and Sundays are often the best days to fly. Its a red eye anyway.

OR Tambo seems much less crowded on Sundays.

I monitor South African flight costs regularly throughout the year, and I've never noticed any particular trend in what the best days would be (assuming you're looking for low costs). As far as crowds in the airport, I'll yield to Ken's significantly greater knowledge.

on our last trip I also recall Tues being the least expensive fare. You can go on Delta and play around with their booking program to see what will be least expensive days of week to travel. It keeps changing it would appear.
