The idea is so cool but apparently never made it. I assume it had something to do with weight of the arrow inserts?

As I recall, there were several quirks that caused issues. One being that it was almost impossible for some guys without proper form to make it work. It only stays centered at full draw. One inch forward, it falls. Most guys can't hold their form well enough for that. Especially when shooting at an angle up or down(treestand).
