I killed one that had an infected hook claw so he likely was killing smaller game after he injured his hook. He still weighed around 150 lbs.
Qualifies for P&Y, B&C, and would fetch a gold medal SCI
Mine weighed 180. It was officially measured at a certified feed store scale. He measured 1/8 shy of B&C.
Do they get bigger than 180lbs?
165 lb tom
165 lb tom
Snuffer- I know of a few 200lb cats that have been taken in WY.
If you want a big cat you need to look for them around elk herds in the winter time frame.
172 lbs...Made B&C and P&Y...
186 without his guts, hide and skull. Not sure what that would put him at on the paw. He was eating elk. Colorado. Made B&C.
Didn’t weigh him, but I’m 6’’4” for reference.
My biggest and only.
Those are some big cats so far. Thanks for sharing.
150lb tom, also killed a smaller female
Took my hunting buddy to Wyoming and he killed a 180lber
Awesome cats! Always amazes me the number of killers we have on Bowsite.
it was years ago in a bar in San Diego, but she didn't die... LOL
Awesome cats guys! Very impressive! I am quite jealous!
Scar Finga- did she charge and almost kill you?
181.5 on a certified scale... skull was 14 12/16
I’m curious if there are many guys that have killed more than one?
She didn't "Charge" but she did almost kill me:) What a way to go!!
Chris I’ve taken two... only went a second time because the taxidermist ruined the skin of my first...
I’m 6’3” tall and weigh about 290.
I’m 6’3” tall and weigh about 290.
I killed a lion in BC that weighed 183 pounds. I think most of the guys that claim bigger weights are guessing, or they killed a cat with a super full belly. Mine was a mega-giant that ties for #5 all time. 15-12/16”.
SW Utah Archery Sunrise Outfitters
SW Utah Archery Sunrise Outfitters
Archery kill tracked on dry ground, never weighed, Outfitters estimated 170#-180#, said was not any different in size, from the one brought out whole the previous week on horseback, which weighed at 182#.
one and done, best tasting critter ever ate.
8ft nose to tail tip/167 lbs before being gutted back at the barn scale.
True giants from Canada also.
Didn’t weigh mine but guide estimated at 160ish . Utah cat , official score of 14 10/16th BC
I've killed 2 and ate both of them!
I think lion weights are just like bear and wolf weights. Most guys are just guessing. If it didn’t go on a scale, no one knows what it weighed.
Halibutman I totally agree. Unless it was actually on the scale it’s just an estimate.
Mine weighed 149lbs on the scale. With nothing in his stomach.
165 pounds on a scale, empty stomach.
165 pounds on a scale, empty stomach.
This Colorado lion ( January 2001) weighted 146 pounds ( by the DOW scale) and had nothing in its stomach. My only cat and treed by hounds.
I’ve killed 8 Tom’s . Biggest scored 14 14/16 with previously broken cheek bone. If not for that would’ve been over 15”
This boy, on my property, was later tagged and weighed at 187 lbs. almost got a shot at him from stand 2 years ago.
Hopefully I’ll have one to add to this in a couple weeks!
Chris, just think about this. What if your lion had been the one that attacked the jogger here above Ft Collins Colorado last fall. The very small, less then 50 pound cat came up behind the jogger. The jogger fought him off and killed it with a rock. I do believe the end result would have been way different, ie, your cat. my best, Paul
The lion I’m holding weighed 183 pounds. I’m 6’3” tall, and he’s DOWNHILL from me. Look at where his butt is....it’s on the ground. All the way on the ground. See his head? It’s even with mine.
Unless you’re 11 feet tall, a 180 pound cat will have his ass on the ground when you bear hug it.
Mine was “only” 183 pounds. I’ve seen far higher weights cited. I’ve killed 3 lions personally and helped my dad with his lion. My B.C. lion dwarfs my dad’s Tom in body size and his easily made B&C all time.
115lbs (completely empty stomach). Southern Arizona (dry ground hunt)
Those things are freaking huge!
And half the size of an African.... Cripes...
Great cats guys! Hopefully I can add my first here in a few weeks!
Super jealous. Anybody with dogs want to take me along? I don’t know a spot, I don’t have a dog, I can bring pbj sandwiches.
went through a personal museum in southern Utah, he had a stuffed jaguar he killed. it was HUGE. Looked as big as an African lion.
UT female lion.
UT female lion.
The one and only cat I’ve killed doesn’t weigh much but it’s my biggest yet. Fun hunt near Vernal.
Back in the 80's...this Guy was about 130# guessing on his weight...Live Picture is better than the after demise one in this case ;)...Just this one and the Meat is Fantastic...4finger
7 foot 4 nose to tail. estimated at 140-150lbs so who knows really. 14 4/16 skull
First & only. I just did a hunt re-cap on the Colorado page!
I bagged a couple well over 200# when I was younger. Never killed a Mt lion tho..
Now, how to get it out.
Now, how to get it out.
^ Glad to see you had some standards when you were younger, Fuzzy. :>D
Here’s one my guide referred to as a snake. Around 9’ but felt like around 120-130lbs. He also had a bite to his right paw that had been infected but was on the mend so he hadn’t been eating for a while. Skull was 14 5/8”
My daughter today! I'm jealous, but proud of her@
Heather called me with the story today. She said it got pretty wild and exciting! The cat ended up in rocks and kind of a den. It had already nailed a couple dogs. The guides wife said this is a pretty uncomfortable situation but he said it will be fine! Heather was nervous. Had to use the guides handgun because she had to reach through a hole to shoot it while it was snarling and mad. Chad told her to wait till she didn't see its glaring eyes before she shot so she wouldn't hit it in the face! She shot it a couple times. He told her to be ready for it to come running out by her leg! It started to but died. She was pretty excited! She's making some backstrap into stir fry for her husband tonight.
Yeah, things can get very exciting pretty quick with them. My cat managed to snag two of the dogs before he gave up the ghost. Couple days later we had a wounded cat that ran towards me and passed within 3 ft with two hounds on his tail before the hunter could get a finishing shot in him.
Bowfly, yeah you can cull em a little closer when you're young ;)
How did you guys and gals end up doing your Mounts?
I went with a Rug and man he sure takes up some floor space!
Good luck, Robb
PS~~congrats to your Daughter Whocares!!
