LMAO it just gets better and better all the time...No more Bobcat hunting starting 01/01/2020...
Bobcat Hunting Prohibition Takes Effect January 1, 2020 Attention Hunter:
This notice is to inform you that legislation has been enacted which prohibits bobcat hunting in California. The full text of Assembly Bill 1254 is available on the California Legislature’s website.
This new law supersedes current regulations and effectively makes Bobcat Hunting Tags for the 2019-20 license year only valid through December 31, 2019. Bobcat hunting is prohibited beginning January 1, 2020.
LOL! CA has a lot more to worry about than losing their bobcat hunting.
Next up hunters won't be able to possess the hide or mounts from them either.
Bears are next... soon, very soon. Ed F
Chipping away at the stone
Converting CA into a total and complete sh**hole...at lightning speed!
I live here and believe me if I could get my wife to leave we would be gone. There are so many bobcats here its crazy. Now once they protect coyotes and bears, all predators will move to CA like the homeless and the illegals. What a beautiful picture that paints. Does anybody have a spare room in case I leave without my wife :)
I'm just wondering who's going to start eating who when it's only predators left ..
As Ed said Bears next, if not Yotes...
Save the piggies! No more wild pig hunting. Cali will be the first.
While their at it they should grab a few of MT's wolves and grizzlies. Got a few extra up here.
Add them to the SSS list....
Damned California Liberals.
Honest question and I am speaking in generalities. So I know I am from Nebraska and I know that people from CA make fun of me and my ilk for being a bunch of backwoods hicks that don't know the difference between a cabernet and merlot (I don't and don't care). So the question is whether they know they are the butt of the joke for a lot of the country with their politics and arrogance? Hell, just look at all the warning labels that say it is only known to the state of CA to be a carcinogen. Seriously one of the most beautiful states, but could not live there (I tried for 3 months).
Californication at its finest. NO THANKS !
Shiras as with some other states, we’re governed by three major cities that even us that live here want no part of! LA, SanFran and Sacramento....Unless there’s a revolt, all out earthquake that takes some of those out, our state is circling the drain...We have so much to offer in this state, yet it is entirely F’d up....
True Dat Ike.. Liberals are the Carcinogen for the USA.. Gonna be a long fight cuz its happening in the courts and not on the streets.
I lived there most of my life, and I am truly embarrassed to admit that! It was so different 30+ years ago it saddens me! A beautiful state completely ruined! I left almost 20 years ago, and I would never go back there but for my 86 year old mother living there. Every time I go have to "disarm my vehicles" truly a sad state and a sad state of affairs! THEY, are now Infecting AZ and it won't be long until we are no different! WE ARE SCREWED! I truly believe that, but never thought it would happen! Maybe crossbows in archery season aren't such a bad thing considering what we are facing?
Oh, I think we are now a split (Arizona) state and heading towards a total democratic take over!!!
Just my thoughts! But I am worried!
Does anybody know why there are (apparently) so many bobcats out there?
What are they living off of, feral cats???
Don’t worry guys, Cali is exporting some of their best to Texas. Soon, we’ll be just as liberal as they are.
I moved to this state two years ago for work and in my anecdotal evidence this doesn’t make sense.
This place is harder on its wildlife than any state I’ve seen. The hardest part to wrap your head around is just how disconnected the people here are from the issues they are making decisions on. The best way to demonstrate this is to simply bring up mountain lions. I would wager to say that in the big cities 85-90% of the people you asked would say the mountain lion is endangered. No numbers to back this but they see stories about p22 or p45 and those cats are in trouble so the population as a whole must be. I’ve never had a conversation where people get up in arms about the fact that I hunt mountain lions after I explain the true impacts and numbers.
It’s not that these people are anti hunting. It’s just a large disconnect that we really need to try and bridge. From a glass half full perspective I feel like hunting is more mainstream now and taking strides to understanding.
I think you’re right.
Trouble is, the jobs are in the cities and the culture is changing. But City Culture leads to unsustainable (or at least wildly erratic) wildlife populations and to be frank, you would think that people who support gay marriage would be OK with the idea that just because some people are grossed out by something or their personal beliefs is that it’s morally “wrong” doesn’t mean that that thing should necessarily be illegal.
All for putting civil liberties ahead of personal preference until it gets Icky, right?
But not many people here will voice any support for gay marriage, so at least the hypocrisy is evenly distributed.
Education goes a long way, but not many are capable of delivering it. Sounds like you’ve been rather successful.
Would be great to learn how you’re doing it....,
Scar Finga, I believe you are mistaken about the Californians that are fleeing to Arizona and screwing things up. Most are conservatives that are fed up with California values and are looking for a better life. Arizona has it's problems and you don't have to look any further the Phoenix valley.... those problems are not ex Californians... look further south. Ed F
I wonder how long till elk hunting is banned. It’s a bummer... Tule are an animal I really wanted to hunt.
And all bobcat tag sales should be refunded.
Speaking to folks who live in states that have experienced an influx of Californians, the complaint is that while many tend to be conservative for CA, they tend to be liberal based on local values for where they move.
There are lots of liberals cashing in and taking their money to lower cost of living areas as well. Many are earthy.
This bobcat law is garbage. The Democrats invoke climate science when that supports their agenda of control, and then throw science to the window when it is inconvenient that agenda....
Their animal activism will come full circle when they bring back their State animal, the grizz. It’s on their flag!
But they (Grizzlies) are so cute and cuddly!!! I just want to hug one!!! Wait, where are my dogs, cats and kids????? Oh my God it's eating me too!!!! LOL
The bird hunters will see the brunt of this as populations get preyed upon by a boom in the bobcat numbers. Avg. Californian won’t even notice. Parasites always kill the host.
Hey BOWUNTR: I think Scar Finga is a lot more accurate then you give him credit for. Yea there are a lot of conservative types leaving Cali but there are also way to many Disney types flooding Arizona as well that are causing problems for sportsman. Case in point, one California native Steve Farley (D-Tucson) is the dork that proposed legislation in Jan. of 2017 that would ban mountain lion and bobcat hunting for Arizona sportsman. With his proposed 1182 Bill, it would have given both cats protection like endangered species. If that's not Californication, then I don't know what is. I know for a fact that there are some good conservative folks that have left that hell hole as is the case with my next door neighbor. He is a lifelong NRA member, retired police officer, and pistol instructor that loves to hunt. Arizona could use a few more people like him but as far as JACKWADS like Farley are concerned I wish they would never set foot in Arizona with there horse shit agenda.
They tried the bobcat agenda here in Colorado this year and testified at the Commission meeting to end trapping of the cat. Luckily the CPW staff and then the Commission voted to keep allowing bobcat trapping.. No surprise the California ended bobcat trapping. What state will be next on their agenda?
Don’t the PETA types lose their appetites when you point out that these native predators eat a lot of introduced predators? Thinking about how much money gets spent on spay/neuter programs for feral cats, and the idea of those becoming coyote/Bob chow amuses me no end!
Bowuntr,
I never said they (Extreme Liberal Californians) are our only problem, but they are a problem!!! Who do you think is trying to ban/ outlaw all this stuff??? It isn't the immigrants that's for sure!! BowBender is dead on accurate and right!
BTW, I'm not sure you completely understand the complexity and importance of immigration legal or not...
I am all for keeping people out that break the law (illegal immigration) and I am all for responsible but legal immigration and we need to kick Congress in B^$&s for not getting it done!!!! We need a plan for legal immigration for workers, and we need to secure our borders. Those two things actually go hand in hand and should be a top priority for Congress and the House!! Not a bunch of BS witch hunts! I would bet my life savings that every single politician in the Federal Government has broken the law at some point!
But on the flip side, without those migrants, AZ and multiple other states would be in very serious trouble, like no economic growth and food shortages because there wouldn't be anyone to build or anyone to produce food and do the "Dirty hard manual labor" Who do you think plants and picks your food? It ain't no white boys, that's for damn sure!!! (Ok, Maybe a few)
In case anyone doesn't realize, unless you are 100% Native American your ancestors where immigrants!!!! I know mine where, Scottish and German! Only my grandmother on my dad's side was native, full blooded Comanche. And she forcefully removed from a reservation as a child and raised by a white minister. That's called kidnapping! I know I am ranting and lblabbering:) :0 : ( LOL
Our politicians are a poison to what our Government is supposed to be, and Americans need to, and better start standing up for their rights, while we still have a few!
Sorry for the blabbering and getting off track... Now back to the program:}
God Bless!
I left eft California last year. I do miss the ocean. And the weather.
Granted, Alberta isn't exactly Jeffersonian in it's politics, but it definitely feels more free up here than Cali did. And the bobcats and yotes are huuuuuuge.
I did some predator calling when I was in Cali and never got to tag one of those scrawny bobcats, kind of wish I had now that the opportunity is gone. They were certainly shy and tough to get in range, but there was no shortage of them. They'd roam my suburban neighbourhood in the evening like house cats.
Yep, the ocean is beautiful and so are the Mountains and sand dunes... The Liberals and illegals have absolutely destroyed that wonderful, beautiful state!
So Sad!
First thing I ever shot with a bow was a CA bobcat. Now it would be illegal? These people are pure insane. I don't know what is the worst.... insanity itself.... or not able to recognize/acknowledge it....
But..... you CAN go take a dump on a public San Fran street and wipe your butt with one...... (you would get a citation for your dog doing that however....)
I'm thinking WWCND...... (What would Chuck Norris do....)
I have long said, If you want a super slam, you better hunt a Tule as soon as possible. Because I think CA will outlaw all hunting in my lifetime for sure
"...heading towards a total democratic take over..." Just like a bad fart SBD, Libs move from a high concentration to a low concentration, and eventually pollute everything everywhere. Unsuspecting, until you get hit with the stench. Its happening all over the west. Portland is a prime example - Used to be a nice place, it sucks now. Bozeman, Whitefish, Jackson Hole, CO of course, and it will just keep spreading like bad gas.
You guys are mean! I live 1/4 mi from my boat. It’s November and still 75-80 degrees out and tuna are still biting! Ocean flat calm and seagulls woke me up this morning. I just ignore the idiocy and life is good! I can hunt virtually anywhere I want and be there in a day, but I can’t take the ocean with me! There are idiots all over this country. It ain’t worth the heartburn to let um get to you.
You guys do realize some of the deadliest hunters on this site are from CA right? We ain’t all morons!
Big mistake Nate... you'll be eaten alive. I know exactly what you are sayin' but you'll never understand until you leave. It's way crazier than you can believe. You're drinking the Kool Aid...
Didn't think about the Tule elk... hope I draw before they outlaw them... Ed F
I'm with SDHNTR on this. Still lots of great hunting here in beautiful places. It's unfortunate that so many feel the solution is to run from the libs rather than effect change from within.
On the bright side, my draw odds go up every time someone runs from a liberal.
Nate we arent talking about the deadliest hunters, we are talking about the liberals that want to kill our lifestyle. Its not CA thats the problem, the libs are the problem and they are talking it with them whereever they grow. CA just happens to be their breeding ground from which they spread like the plagues to infect the rest of the best areas.
I'll be thinking of this thread as I work on my limit of lobster tonight.
I'll be thinking of your lobster when I'm filling my truck up in Nebraska at $2.54 a gallon. When I left Idyllwild 3 days ago, it was $4.14/gallon. And I'll tell you what else got to me - sending thousands and thousands of dollars in state income tax to Sacramento every year besides the thousands in sales tax, gas tax, etc that I was already paying. Oh, and the weight hanging over my head that if I killed someone in defense of myself or my family, that I would most likely go to prison or spend 300 grand defending myself in a long trial that would most likely result in me losing my job.
California is a very beautiful state and has lots of opportunities, but the politics are horrible and do impact your daily life. Just wait till they ban hunting altogether. One specie at a time, that's been their plan all along.
Guys living in California hunt?
"Guys living in California hunt?"
Nope, they've mostly been goaded by their neighbors into swearing off meat and only eating on impossible burgers at Burger King.
Those who haven't succumbed to that can't even get out of bed in the morning and face the day because of the knowledge they live in a sanctuary state
Pole man tell us how you're effecting change from within? Let us hear about your victories. You only have so many days on this planet.... I was in Law Enforcement for 30 years and didn't change a thing. I was actively involved in the California Bowman Hunters for 25 years and didn't change a thing. I moved for my kids and quality of life. I was fortunate to be able to do it. My quality of life gets better everyday. Yes, California has some great things to do and see. I'll visit from now on.
BTW, your draw odds didn't get better. Anyone with any sense got a lifetime license and kept their points. Ed F
Maybe it’s because I didn’t grow up here or I’ve had a chance to live in Idaho, Alaska and Michigan but I can’t get behind California as a great place. Sure the ocean is neat and I’ve put some fish and lobsters in the freezer but at what cost. Everything costs here. Pay to park, gas tax, tolls, launch fees, extreme rents/mortgages, etc... then after that you have to deal with the traffic. Everything you plan on doing you need to plan for several hours in most cases just to get out of the city. When I go to hills to hunt, the after work option or the day trip is a really tough stretch.
Then there are all of the ammo bans, weapons bans. Compile that with July hunting seasons which in my head makes no sense but maybe someone can explain the reasoning to me on that. Then the state is constantly making wildlife decisions on an emotional basis.
I’ve been here for two years so maybe I haven’t drank the kool-aid enough but from my perspective this is the worst place I’ve lived by a long shot.
My sister moved there years ago, and she had converted to one of 'them'. She is ultra liberal, hates anything and anyone conservative, lives with a guy who has a n 1100 sq ft single story house that he bought from his mother for 175K years ago that is now valued at over 1.2 MILLION!!!, and nothing more than a 'rental' house IMO, as basic as it gets. Here, it would be worth 75K. Ours is 2700 sq ft and assessed at 175K here, and there would easily be worth 4-5 million with 9 acres of land. It is a sick society there. My Mom was brought there by my sister for her last 4 years of life, and passed on last Jan. in a 'home', because she could not find room in their 1.2 million dollar 'mansion' to take care of her. I went to visit several times, and the traffic is ridiculous, and the people for the most part are from another world. Its like a foreign country there. I do not know my sister now, she has alienated herself from all the 'hicks' in NY. LOL! Beautiful state ruined by idiot people and politics. It is a tragedy really.
