This skull/rack was found in southeastern Illinois

Illinois always seems to produce giants. That's a beauty.

LOL MIDWEST. Yep sad day likely for someone, this day and age, not many giants that slip under the radar

the archer took too long a shot and wounded it with a mechanical over bait on managed property. A shame

I bet it’s all because the butt of his crossbow got caught up in his heated vest.

If the guy would have had his tracking T.P. he would have found it.

Does Illinois require a permit for a pick up/possess a 'found' rack ? ... it is required here in Indiana, you can not possess a 'found/pick up' with out the permit .... I think many states require a permit ....

Not legal in Washington or Oregon to pick up skulls, or to cut antlers off them.. I'd have a real difficult time leaving that behind.

Yes, You need to call in for salvage tag in Illinois. Suppose to call in before you take possession .

Interesting to see it that clean at this time of year and no rodent nibbling readily apparent.... Either that or it’s later in the year than I realize!!!

From: midwest

The deadheads that I've found rarely have any rodent chewing on the antlers. I think it has to do with the scavengers that are attracted to the dead animal keeping the little rodents away.

Just seems real clean to have died this year and in awfully good condition for it to be almost a year later....

Awfully cool find, though...

Well, there went the last buck in Illinois. Nothing more to see here, y’all can move on to Iowa or Kansas.

Kentucky is the place to be ;)

JTV- the five game wardens that we have in the state are too busy arresting people in state parks for drug possession to worry about antler possession. The state also wants to get rid of all deer to keep the farm bureau happy and to eradicate cwd

My thoughts are the same as GF's.
