How many are 60 or older. I still get out quite often. It relaxes me. The only thing that have changed.... most of my climbing sticks and hang ons are down. Not the agile monkey that I once was. I've traded them in for comfortable two man ladder stands.

60 a week ago, the older I get the tougher it is to get up early the second or third morning! And the recovery time from a 2 or 3 day trip is 2 or 3 days! Still get out about 60 days a year, just wait til I retire!

76 and i just finished 10 days in the wilds of northern Arizona......well.... with my tent trailer.....and my quad....and a ground blind...and cell service.....and a generator....Maybe I am getting a little soft but I thoroughly enjoyed it !!

62 and still go as hard as I did when I was 30 but slower. I’ve found out age has made a more patient hunter as I’m not in a huge rush to get to a certain spot ahead of everyone else. Put on 85 miles on my gps last elk season in the Big Horns and did not connect but saw a lot more. One thing I’ve noticed more this whitetail season is that I get cold a lot more than I used to. Told my wife that my toasty toes inside my artic pro mucks seem to not keep up as well. I’m thinking battery operated socks will cure that problem. I have a plan that when I’m to old to hike the mountains and sit in a tree stand I’m probably dead.

63 and got my best buck 2 weeks ago. Still using sticks and hang one except I I have several ladder stands out. I get around pretty good hanging stands yet even after both knees replaced.

66 years old and currently sidelined from 4 level fusion back surgery 3 weeks ago.(TLIF) No bending, lifting. or twisting but able to walk 2x a day 1/2+ mile walks. No hunting this year and a 3-6 month recovery. Looking forward to chase elk come September.

I'll be 78 in about a week. I started Archery/bowhunting in 1956. Did 8 days Antelope hunt in Sept. with my son & we tented it. He took a nice Buck & this was his 1st Goat hunt. I went & took my 1st Antelope at age 68. I rekindled my tournament shooting in 2010 & love it. My knees are shot so I no longer Elk hunt but I've been blessed with many adventures in the past. We have 8 in the family that enjoy my love of archery (Kids & G-kids) so they keep me going. My 16 yr old G-son arrowed his 1st Whitetail yesterday in 10 degree weather & snow. It just keeps getting better.

71 and still kicking, quadruple bypass last January but still shot a bear in Ont. in June, didn't get an Antelope in Sept, got a sitka blacktail on Kodiak in Oct, a doe in Iowa last week and a buck on last Sat. in Mn. Going back Iowa tomorrow. Clint Eastwood said to stay young " don't let the old man in" I don't plan too!

I'm 61 and honestly feel better than I did than when I was half my age. I have no aches and pains. I still feel physically limitless as long as I continue to train.
This next year I'll be running the Boston Marathon in April, a half IronMan in June, and a 100 mile trail race in October, along a few other shorter trail and road races. I feel truly blessed!

I got turned on to full spectrum CBD in September by someone I trust. It has made a marked difference in my knees. I have three other close older friends who use it for different things, two with arthritis and the other with a joint problem, and they insist it makes a huge difference.
I put a few drops under my tongue morning and night. As long as it keeps working, I'll keep using it.

63 in August. After talking it over with my flight doc I started my KETO lifestyle about 3 weeks ago. Still in transition but the ketones are kicking in and my strength is returning. Been a sugar addict my whole life. Feeling like a totally new man. Looking forward to a lot more years chasing the critters.

Just turned 68. Knees are 9. Some of my teeth are only a couple years old. Don't know how that all adds up, but did solo 18 day elk hunt this fall. Guided two months wilderness fishing and 5 weeks elk hunting, so still hanging in there. I really don't feel much different than I have for many years, but it takes me longer to recover from a big effort. Great to see so many of us still getting after it.

72 - mind is still pretty sharp, but body can’t move as fast as it once did, but still moving.
I would say I’m running more in 5th gear than 6th gear, but can sometimes still stay in cruise control mode.
I just don’t “hate’em” like I once did ( except coyotes and loose dogs). I realize I don’t have to prove anything to anybody or try to impress others. I savor quality, rather than quantity.
I love the outdoors more, pay more attention to the outdoors and the details and beauty of nature. I enjoy just being in the wild alone more these days.
In summary, I’m thankful to be alive and to still be able to hunt and enjoy the outdoors. I admire those “Duracell guys” who are older that me, and still pursuing to hunt. They help me strive for the future. At the same time, I realize I have a responsibility to pass things on to those who are younger and are willing to receive what I know and have learned.

80 yrs old. Took a 4x4 mulie, an antelope buck, an 11 point whitetail, a doe and a turkey. Solo hunted for 27 days. Would have chased elk but have no one to hunt with! All my friends are dead or crippled!. I stay in shape by hiking the mountains ( up to 7000 ft ) every other day between 4 and 6 miles, Hope to be the oldest Bowhunter at 100. Yea, good luck with that! LOL!

Thank you old guys for your posts. Your posts say things that I can identify with or admire. I can really appreciate things like Brun and Ursman doing those solo bowhunts especially at our ages. Solo was tough for me 40 years ago. I now enjoy taking my adult sons and grandchildren bowhunting and value their experiences and success more than my own. Today is the oldest I have ever been and the youngest I will ever be again.....71 Still hunting as much as I can. I enjoy it as much as ever. Hunted Bears in Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan this year......successfully too. Next week it is off to Saskatchewan for Whitetail.... I am a firm believer in "Use it or Lose it".....and that covers a lot of things.

My experience with CBD is I sleep more soundly and dreams are more lucid. Using a cream now on some tendonitis in my wrist, it helps.

Hunting and adventure is about the only reason I try to stay in some kind of shape when all the natural forces seem to say round is the default state..... Normally hunt every week. All year. This year some house projects getting in the way,missed a few weeks. Painting it right now..... the only thing less enjoyable than painting to me is prepping and sanding for painting..... watching it dry turns out is the best part....

WOW, some incredible stories. Good luck to all us guys that many more years are ahead. Just got back from MAYO in Rochester. Good news..... the prostate cancer that spread is in the "curable stage". Radiation for 36 days and hormones for 3 years. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

62 and still climbing trees to whitetail hunt. I did my first solo archery elk hunt this year (my buddy was injured and could not make it this year) and had a blast. I can say that those things on my body that used to bend/flex well, don't anymore. And the thing that did not used to bend/flex, does. " Old age and treachery shall overcome youth and skill".

Turned 60 this past elk hunt in Oregon. Wheels gradually falling off. Pacemaker helping though. Was able to score my elk runnin-n-gunnin rather than treestand. Got lucky on a 300 yard packout and forum member help moving! But still strained my back. Lately my public land whitetail routine back here in Indiana has me more sore. Must drive 2 hour round trip daily, hike back in 2 miles round trip daily, carrying my gear and climbing stand. All to get to dinks I pass on anyway. Reformulating this part of my plan.

I’m 66 next month and still going strong but I can feel it for sure. Hunting smarter helps a lot. I don’t bust out climbing those mountains like I used to but I still get it done. Started bowhunting 58 yrs ago. Where did all that time go? Heading out to the Chiricahuas in two weeks to hunt some Coues where I’ll celebrate my 66th. My Dad just turned 105 last month, so I don’t know how long I have to keep it going, however it may be a while!

I'm 66 this coming February and I'm still packing elk out on my solo hunts this year.
With two years in a row bad Rib injuries (eAssit mountain bike wreck in June 2018 and a damn ladder crash on Memorial Day 2019) on the same dang side!, it has slowed me down during my training but I've still done lots of hiking and keep my pace with in reason for the rib pain on big deep breaths type deal.
I just got home from a last week of Spot-n-Stalk Whitey hunt in Wyoming and I did notice that as long as I am moving, even if it's slow still hunting speed, I stay pretty warm but that dang wind is more noticeable as I age.
1 more elk tag to fill so I am hope full to have a good year on packing another elk out solo fun.

David, I spend my time keeping up with my younger girlfriend, working out, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, volunteering, managing two fisheries and on three boards. Retired from the corporate world 5.5 years ago, and retired from writing for money two years ago.

Almost 69 years old. Went on spot stalk elk hunt in Colo in September. And I arrowed a nice bull. Hunted whitetails in Kansas, also pheasants. No plans to slow down. I work out on a tread mill and weight machine several times a week.

It was a big buck sockeye from the Kenai this summer. Didn't weigh him but he was way bigger than any of the others we caught. Hit the second run at the peak. Also had a great week in Patagonia, catching jumbo browns on big articulated streamers. And tons of nice rainbows at home. Retirement is grand!

AARP flyers start around 55. They'll pretty much take anybody who "seems" old now, but with the trendy FIRE movement happening and people retiring at 40 they may need to lower the age even more. I guess there are some good discounts but I don't belong because I don't want my dues money going to liberal political causes and candidates.

I'm 63 now, I think about how much it's going to hurt before I do something before I jump in, not like when I was young but I still jump in.. Other than that I still do young stuff.
