WHAT ABOUT THE GUYS IN THEIR 50's?

52.
Be 53 in April.
Hell, I almost put down that I was 40 on that other thread!
Hard to believe I’m actually this old!
55 and shooting better than ever it just takes a bit longer to get there
So we have a thread for the under 40 and over 40's. Us in our 40's are really being left out...
John, you can join us 50's guys:)
I am 51
56, recently retired and loving every minute in the woods!
How many of you have the Check Engine Light coming on more often?
Nobody cares about you guys in your 50s. Too old to be considered young, not old enough to be considered wise. Not old enough to start sucking on the government teat. :-)
Lou... Go talk to your hot GF or whatever! LOL!
Guys in their 50's rock, we have dad bods after al! LOL!
59 next month and the chicks still dig us Coasties. ;-)
55 on paper, 20 in reality, my reality ...
Just turned 57 on 10/23. I used to like my 50’s. Now, not so much!
55 in a month, act 25 and feel about the same I did when I was 40. Shawn
59 and act like i'm 5. They say act your age.. refuse to grow old
54 but I look a lot younger than Shug. ;)
"59 and act like i'm 5"
Lol, I always tell my Wife in a loud voice "I'm 4 Years old"!!!!
53 the only thing that feels 53 is my left shoulder, which is going to have to go under the knife some day, and the urge to take a leak after only sleeping a few hours
i remember my 50's fondly. turn 65 in a couple day's kinda miss them......
Almost 59, but very immature for my age.
58 with 3 stints in my heart I still run with the young buck's just need a Knapp every now & then
I'll be 58 in February. I shoot left handed. I'm right handed but have a very bad right eye.
Thinking of Molly Shannon's great "over the hill but still hanging on" dancer bit on Saturday Night Live. "I'm fifty! I'm fifty yeahs old!"
Just turned 58 at end of September.
56...Will be chasing elk again in September.
50 and feeling better and fitter than in my 40's.
58 and retired this year.
53 and just had 3 stents put in my heart. I never had any chest pains. I had a 100% blockage of my “widow maker” artery.... that was discovered in my annual physical.... Lucky I didn’t have a massive heart attack.
Get your annual check ups guys......
50 for me. Enjoy both of my sons hunting success much more than my own. I’ve killed enough but am still out this morning anyway looking for a love struck buck.
-Mitch
56 here. Mike the Carpenter, is that what all these aches and pains are that showed up? LOL!
60 now. Be 61 in January.
Knocking on the deer at 48 :-/
51 going on 15, light as I was when I was 18.
Ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once, as I ever was.
It is the middle of the whitetail rut, isn't it? These age threads look like February topics :^)
Unless you are 47...that thread got poofed!!!???
54. You are old as the women you feel! (If that is the case, I am in the wrong thread! LOL!)
The hardest thing I do daily is to attempt to put an 18 year old mind into a 57 year old body... it rarely works, but when it does, stand back and hold my beer!!!
Still 51 but since we are adding comments....I have a lot of hunts I'm still dreaming about. For that very reason I walked into a gym over 7 years ago and have committed myself to working out ever since. I can honestly say I'm in better shape in my 50's than I've been since my 20's. Someday I will chase an elk, mountain lion, moose and many other challenging critters with my bow.
My lovely wife is in the exact same boat. Today she turns 51 as well. We did a very intense upper body and core workout and incorporated 51 extra "birthday burpees" into the breaks. At 51 she is still turning heads!
For those of you youngsters peeking in on us in the over 50 club all I can say is keep dreaming about the hunts you want to do and let that be the motivation to keep working hard in life now so you will be able to enjoy them someday!
good advice big bear. heart attack got my father at 51 & almost got me at 49 if there is heart desieze in your family history get yourself checked out fairly regular
56 and Im not happy about it.
What about us? 57 last week...
56 and pretty much retired and loving it. Can’t figure out how I EVER had time for a jjjjj...job!-0
Currently 58 will be 59 next month.
54 but forever young at heart. Bring on those elk mountains!
58 since the end of September. Figure there is only one alternative to growing old. ;) So Dad tells me and he'll be 93 in a little over a month.
58-so what?? 50 is the new 70.
I'm 70 and am nearly as strong and fast as when I was the Texas state pole vault winner in 1967, beating a guy (Dave Roberts who later set the world record). I'm contemplating going after the senior pole vault record, but I'm veryyyy busy. Would be a breeze in 70 age class at just over 11'. I figure I could go maybe 15' if I got serious if not higher. That's freeway overpass height territory, ha. Mentally, I'm still in college...a little bit smarter.
Or maybe I'm delusional, but in my mind I still have a champion mindset to the point it's scary. I try to keep it quiet usually because it just makes people mad. Stay in shape!
Turning 51 in 2 weeks. Hard to believe how quickly the time goes. Still hunt and shoot a ton, but like many of you, I also dream of more trips! Shoot straight and may your arrows fly true gentlemen.
Turn 58 in five more days....
On the tail end of 56, I am still doing pretty good for my age but earlier in the year I was humbled by a young guy that left me gasping for oxygen trying to keep up chasing a Barbary sheep, reality is relative!
50! Hmmmmmmmmmmm! I am 71 and still pulling the recurve and whacking animals! I am shooting 61#s and still Loving every minute of! Enjoy your 50's and on, 70 will catch you sooner than you think! Good Luck!!!!!!!
53 and still feel and act like a rutting young buck! :)
58, my body has started to rebel against my active lifestyle at 57.
58. I started bow hunting at 51 so I get to be a kid all over again. At least when it comes to hunting!
David A.
Just like a boomer, you drop in declaring "70 is the new 50" and start bragging about feats of strength. Take your old gray balls elsewhere with that and don't forget your 2" diameter aluminum vaulting pole! :^) (Can't drive under an overpass without seeing the clearance and thinking about bar height myself.)
I'm 54, BTW.
57 and starting to really feel it on the mountain hunts !
As someone on this site said not too long ago, DON'T LET THE OLD MAN IN!"
Will turn 58 next week....
50...just started the journey in May.
In my 50s I was chasing Elk & Mule Deer at 10,000 feet, went on 2 Caribou bowhunts, hunted several states for various animals. It IS a journey as long as the body holds out. Sadly, doing everything right does not guarantee we will stay healthy. Good luck to all you young Grasshoppers. I am blessed to still be in the game since I started bowhunting in 1956 (b/4 you 50ers were born).
55. Finally getting the hang of this bowhunting whitetails thing. Only took me 35 years.
Nothing work right, my stomach sticks out farther than my........ feet, have lots of aches and pains, my hair is gray I must be 50.
.....was a long time ago...so....
58 and still love everything about archery and deer have killed them with longbows, recurves and compounds.
Lost my first tooth this week at 54. It's all downhill from here!
55 and feeling it after a long drag on Friday lol I think I'm going to have to start shooting smaller deer.
My son is 54, does that count? my best, Paul
Turned 59 the end of September and retired last May. Living the dream!
If you have kids that are in their 50’s...and your still bowhunting??? That DEFINITELY COUNTS!!! Wow you guys are an inspiration to us young 50 somethings!
Hell, Paul probably has camo undies older than us!!!
Definitely an inspiration! Would love to see him knocking-’em down into his 90’s!
Several senior bowhunters here in Colorado that are truly amazing - Paul Navarre, Marv Clyncke, Jake Powell, Wayne Depperschmitt.
Hell, there are bowhunters in their 30’s that can’t keep up with those guys!
57, today's my birthday!!
The 26th, which it still is in San Diego for another hour and a half.
The 26th, which it still is in San Diego for another hour and a half.
59 and in the woods more than ever. living life to its fullest. Fell off a ladder a year ago, and broke my back, but It didn't keep me down. Shot my biggest buck to date last fall, after the mishap. Mind over matter, is what matters..
55 on Nov 8. I get accused of being a grampa alot lately, but the kicker is I have a 4th grader. Just like this thread, I seem to always be late to the party.
I always told myself I would retire at 55, although I missed that goal - I do have no job or income so it is similar I guess.
57 and still getting out to the woods as often as I can. I like Teddy Roosevelt's philosophy of the "vigorous life..."
Turned 57 last week. Still love it all but dragging my 240 lb buck uphill this year reminded I'm not 21 anymore or I need to shoot smaller deer. Lol
Turn 52 in 22 days. Getting back into the gym next week thx to my 23 year old wife, actually she's 44 but still a hottie and my desire to keep up with my 14 year old Son.
59, but only for a few more days.
In a few days you can post on the 60s thread, lol. Happy Birthday!
57. Was healthy as a horse until 2 years ago. Then stuff started falling apart. Pisses me off! Luckily my youngest seems to like hunting, and he's a big, strong kid who can drag stuff out of the woods for me.
56. Had shoulder surgery and had to buy a crossbow. With a lot of work, I was able to hunt with my Switchback again this year. Two does down and waiting for horns worthy of taking.
55 Kept with it and shot my first bull this year
