Buck of a lifetime!
Mule Deer
Contributors to this thread:
Last week I was fortunate to take a few photos of this outstanding buck. I am guessing he was about 40 inches wide and would score over 230. What's your take on his width and score.
Anyway I hope you mule deer lovers can enjoy him a fraction of what I did.
Have a great bowhunt. BB
Big enough! Thanks for sharing!
Holy HOG!!!
Ear to ear width is usually about 22" on a mule deer, so I think your 40" estimate is pretty close. Main frame 220" with 16" of extras. I have him at 236" gross.
Could you PM me the GPS coordinates of his location? ;-)
Matt
Great photos Bill... thanks for sharing.
Wow! Good to see a few BB pics!!!
I can’t even imagine seeing him on the skyline!
Geez. After that buck, why even try to shoot (bow/gun/cam) anything else?
Awesome photography as usual! Notice how his ears arent tore up? Nobody even spars with that guy, or ever has.
What an awesome buck and great photos. I have him at about 36" inside spread and pushing 40" outside, but I am FAR from any kind of expert.

Incredible photo incredible animal
There are no words.....Beautiful photos Bill!
Glad to see you getting out and about and still finding such awesome critters!
Incredible and amazing buck.
Thinking that his ear width will be over 22”, probably 24”-25”. On big, older mule deer they tend to be a bit more tip to tip.
Outside spread @ 40-42”
Inside spread at 30-32”.
Gross score 240-245”.
Would love to catch up to one like that with my long bow!!
Thanks for sharing such an amazing set of pictures, Bill!
Beautiful animal, no wonder he lives in open country! He must have one tough neck to hold that up all the time. I've seen one similar in MT, but not as wide or quite as heavy. Very large with many stickers though. In fact, I let my buddy take first shot at it (it was 16 below 0 that day) and his rifle fired a squib, bullet dropped about 10 ft from the barrel. Buck vanished. This one reminds me of that. I gifted it right back to nature.
Phenomenal BB! Thx for sharing.
Wow! Amazing buck! Beautiful photos as always. Thanks for sharing Bill!
Incredible buck. Good to hear from you Bill. Thanks for posting.
is he the biggest you think you've ever taken pictures of ?
As always thinks for sharing!
Great to see the full potential of a deer. Pretty sure it’s virtually un-huntable (auction tag maybe?) The real question is it somewhere Shed hunting is allowed.
Awesome creature, thanks for sharing.
Those photos are just spectaculor Bill! Just when I think they can't get any better you just keep raising the bar. Amazing!!
Beautiful BB! What an animal!
Breathtaking photo and jaw dropper dream buck I would guess 240s as well
Amazing photography and a spectacular animal!! Thankful that you post your pics!
Cnelk....I thought the same thing regarding his ears! That big ol' drop tine should have torn that ear to shreds..... he gets the bow from the other bucks, no doubt. Once in a lifetime is right!
Dang...that's a beautiful buck! What dreams are made of. Kevin
Treeline,
I've been blessed to kill more than my share of old mulies, and I do my own taxidermy work. I've never seen one with more than 22" ear tip to ear tip. If you have an example of one with more than that, please post a pic of it. Thanks.
Matt
And yes that's the largest buck I have ever photographed. I have seen a few bigger way back when mule deer were abundant, but he's the largest I have ever shuttered my camera on.
On a side note, I have worked out a special "Xmas offer with who I feel is the best printer. I am offering 20 canvas photos of him size 16x20 which normally run $225.00 for $185.00 shipped to your door. It would make a great gift for years to come, or a good stocking suffer for you man cave. If interested email me at [email protected]
Have a great bow hunt. BB
Amazing shots of an amazing animal!
I’d put him at 38” outside and agree 230+ gross. Super stud
BB thanks so much for sharing great pictures job very well done as usual Lewis
Amazing pictures and thank you for posting. Will you share a little of the backstory? It looks like you had multiple encounters with him. How long have you been photographing him? How has this buck made it through the season so far, is this a refuge area? Thanks again.
I’m not an “inches” hunter. But that is a stud. Hope you get him.

Awesome buck. Thanks for sharing
Now get to working with the Wyoming elk hunt story with Cody! :)
Bill I had hoped you were selling your calendar again this year and he would have made a great Dec model! Looking at your Nov 2019 mulie now! Thanks!
Great deer and great photography as usual. Thanks.
Man I love that buck, about 10 years ago I was able to get his buddy!
WOW, as others have said, nice to see you post pics again. Thanks, Bob
Great to see you back, Bill! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with us. We miss you!
Can you get a license to hunt that area Bill? Or is he so big because tags are hard to draw? If I could hunt a buck like that I’d put my elk tag in the paper shredder and quit my job! Wow!
wow what a buck! Man he is cool
