Anyone who purchased or shot the New Hoyt RX4 or Axius do you have any comments or info Thanks
Little better back wall than the 2019 models but pretty similar outside of that.
I'd agree with a little stiffer back wall. I also thought quieter than last year's comparable model as well.

Same technology as 2003 is what Elkman thinks.
Rodger and friend I hunt with had a Hoyt bought a Prime said he took a step backwards
Nope step up. Hoyt is over advertised like Mathews. Both garbage!
Man shoot everything ya can and make a decision from that I ended up with a prime but it sure wasn’t because any of the others were junk it was because that’s what felt best to me.
Very educated response by Roger...Figures! SMH...Like FR said, shoot everything you can...
Roger, my opinion is that your opinion is garbage. Actually a “ junk, toy “ opinion.
Well at least it’s easy to separate the useful opinions from the non
Is the bow tunable is the question. Does it have features needed to get that perfect tune? Does it have a lot of extra crap that makes it complicated or potentially less reliable?
Feel doesn't mean anything if you can't tune it.
The best news about the release of the rx4 is the rx3 can now be had new or next to new for $900-1,000 on eBay
Over priced junk. No need for a 1600$ bow. You wear a flat brim hat too? Lol. I’ll out shoot anyone with my prime. Just picked up the new black series at 80#
How much is a new antiquated Prime?
Rodger... thanks for your opinion.
Opinions are often welcomed here, but yours is not.
This thread will be closed..... Tick.. tick ... tick
I wear flat brims every day mostly because it annoys the old timers I work with but I also shoot an 80# prime mr Roger
Haven’t tried the new one abu the RX3 ultra is a shooter!!
And by the way I bought and Prime and couldn’t get it to tune. Sold It and went back to Hoyt. They have yoke cables and it makes tuning very easy. You roger that Roger?
It takes an 80# Prime to shoot as fast as a 60# Hoyt.
Habitat unfortunately you are incorrect
"The best news about the release of the rx4 is the rx3 can now be had new or next to new for $900-1,000 on eBay"
Sounds like these new bows depreciate pretty quick?
Don’t worry about roger, he’s the idiot from CT that keeps logging in with bogus ID’s...Hopefully Pat or one of the Mods will get rid of him for good!
I love guys like Roger! Total moron that’s too dumb to know how not smart he is. And he thinks HE’S playing everyone else.
Such a BIG target!
Basically the same as last year with a slightly improved wall and a little better vertical tune characteristics. Slightly more forgiving to spine changes etc... So long as your in the right draw length. (there fixed it for the challenged) ;-)
Going to have to agree with Ermine and Ambush, because like them, I actually have A LOT of experience shooting a Hoyt instead of just talking out of the side of our necks like you are so Roger That. This a thread to give Bighorn knowledge about a Hoyt bow that he’s looking into, not a Hoyt trash talking session by a Prime guy. I’m sure Prime makes a fine bow but he didn’t ask you your opinion about a Prime. We shoot Hoyt because it’s a preference of which bow fits and feels great and shoots even better. To each their own. You get what you pay for with Hoyt and they have impeccable customer service in my experience. Post all those animals that your killing with that 80# Prime and all your World Archery Championships since you are Mr. Robin Hood there Rog. You’re talking to folks that have plenty enough experience hunting with a Hoyt to realize that you are full of $***!!!! If you ever make it from CT out this way to CO and wanna sling some arrows, I’m your huckleberry!
Post me up in a place to stay and help me get an otc elk tag I’m in!!!!
Elkman, you SERIOUSLY need to learn what the word "exactly" means. There are lots of idiots on the internet. Stop being one.
I listed the differences. There is only two idiots on this thread, and I ain't one of em...
Roger This, I’d almost give you that place to stay just for the comical value that would follow you purchasing an OTC elk tag and trying to figure out what to do and where to go after said tag purchase. I’d bet you’d be just as clueless with an OTC elk tag as you are about Hoyt bows so please Roger That.
BTW I filled my OTC elk tag this year and Bugled in a fine 6x6 that my brother killed, both with Hoyt bows. Just saying...
Better to be quiet and thought an idiot, than open your mouth and prove it true. Still good advice!
#1 none of the manufacturers make junk. # 2 all the manufactures have a lemon on occasion # 3 none of the manufacturers make a model that can’t be tuned unless it falls into #2 #4 saying that any of the manufacturers are stuck on early 2000s tech is like saying the compound is 1960s tech. Yea kinda but we all know it’s not the same too
I shot the new RX4 Alpha and plan to shoot the turbo when my local shop gets one in, before making any purchase decision. As far as shot noise, the bow seems slightly quieter than the RX1 and RX3. Draw cycle, length of valley, and back wall firmness feel about the same to me. The Alpha is a slightly more compact bow, with the AtoA reduced by an inch from the previous year's model. Published speed performance is about the same as past models, so not really a factor. The guy Shane on AT that is known for highly detailed bow reviews has been testing one and is generally quite positive about the RX4. He cites improvements in cable tracking that have led to the bow being more easily tunable than past models, and feels that "pin float" has improved on the new bow. I'm happy with my RX1, but it's always fun to consider the new models each year, including the other big-3 offerings.
What a shame man. Some real pearls showing up on the Bowsite
Elkman,
A short time back you used to rave about Hoyt, even though now you say the technology has not changed since 2003. Seems to me either your opinion back then or now is deceptive.
Lots of great bows out there. And I am no technical wizard, I shoot a Hoyt because I am confident with it. Shoot what works for you.
"Exactly the same as last year" & "I listed the differences."
Then it ain't exactly the same. See, words, well they mean things.
Roger that,
Perhaps you could enlighten the ignernt about why Prime is so great. Please no paraphrasing from the website. And try to use words that have more than one syllable.
A lot of similarities in the RX series bows. The larger (and heavier) bottom limb gives better balance and alleviates some of the rocking forward motion at the shot, helps it hold better on target, and overall adds balance to the bow.
What sets them apart this year is the larger cable contact area for the draw stop giving the more solid back wall for a string stop arrangment.
And show some 60 yard fbbh groups.
This is awesome, better than the Bowtech thread.
Why are some dudes so uneducated and just clueless yet just open their hole and spew bowel movements out so freely? Lol!!! The RX4 is as stated, could use a bit better back wall but other than that rock solid. Still sticking to old trusty Turbo Spyder though but I think the same about it.
My limbs splintered about 3 and half years into owning the Carbon Spyder Turbo thanks to a very hard fall in sub zero weather while mountain lion hunting, thank goodness it was after the harvest while climbing out of rim country. I took my bow to my local archery shop where I purchased the bow new. They talked to Hoyt for me who agreed to register my bow (because I failed to do so apparently after purchasing the bow) and sent me free replacement limbs. That’s about as good as it gets in my opinion, because of that and the outstanding performance and accuracy that I have enjoyed from my last few Hoyt bows is why they have my business. Again always thought that they could have a little more solid of a back wall. especially in the Turbo models.
Thanks to all who gave info on the new RX4, didn't mean to start a bashing session. Been shooting Hoyts for almost 40 years never had any issues there customer service is outstanding. I know there are a lot of good bows, just seeking info on the new models cause my pro shop did not have one in yet. Been a loyal Hoyt owner. Thanks
I shot the RX-4 Alpha, RX-4 Ultra and the VXR 31.5 last week. I am currently shooting an RX-1 and happy with it. All 3 bows are very nice and quieter than my RX-1. The VXR was the fastest with the setup I tested, with the Alpha 1 fps slower and the Ultra another 1 fps slower ... so in my eyes they are all on par with on another.
I prefer the Hoyt draw cycle to the VXR, though the VXR is nice ... the Hoyt is just smoother - IMHO. The Hoyt feels a touch heavier in the hand, but is even more dead in the hand at the shot ... again - IMHO.
I ended up ordering the RX-4 Ultra with 80# limbs. My reasoning being that the Hoyt draw cycle is super smooth and the test bows @ 73# felt more like 60# ... the exception being the VXR which felt more like I would typically expect a ~70# bow to feel. I opted for the Ultra as I'm hoping the longer ATA will be a bit steadier for longer shots and the 1 fps speed advantage is out weighed by what I hope is greater stability for longer shots. I've never gone with the 80# limbs before so I will see if that was a good decision, but my hope is that the bit of extra speed I should eek out will help flatten out things a bit. I do like the VXR, but for me the draw cycle is very different. The guy next to me liked the VXR better as he liked how it "dropped into the back wall". Each to their own ... the bows aren't the weakest link ... it's the shooter in my case! :-)
I’d 80 yards groups with the prime. Hoyt can’t group 30
“I’d 80 yards groups with the prime. Hoyt can’t group 30”
A lot of people who try to shoot a Hoyt when coming from a lesser bow struggle with groups. The speed is usually what causes it, being used to those slow bows and moving to the speed of a Hoyt can make your eye balls shake. You seem like a real insecure fellow, so it would make sense Hoyt would freak you out a little.
I'll shoot my Hoyt at Roger at 30 yards. He can shoot at me at 80 with his el Primo. I'll go first...
now that was funny,,,,
now that was really funny
I mean really really funny!
"Exactly the same as last year ...." Except different
Unfortunate Roger is the only one in the room that does not get who he is.
"I’d 80 yards groups with the prime. Hoyt can’t group 30"
It's funny how many tournaments get won by Hoyt shooters with bows that can't group past 30. It's likewise weird how few tournaments get won by Prime shooters considering they apparently group so well at 80.
"I’d 80 yards groups with the prime. Hoyt can’t group 30"
It's the shooter, not the bow, dumb ass.
You wanna shot them not hoyt them!!! Buy quality not advertising
Roger- No shame in asking for extra after school help with reading/writing/comprehension. 8th grade is going to be alot tougher than 7th buddy! Better to bite the bullet now.
I can guarantee you that Roger shoots off at the mouth a hell of a lot better than he shoots that Prime.
