The ruling changes absolutely nothing regarding wolf management in Oregon. Wolves have been delisted east of 395 for years. The court simply dismissed a challenge to the current law. ODFW is still held to the terms of the current wolf management plan; currently no hunting, no trapping, etc and nothing is changing any time soon.

Nothing about a win for wildlife, or hunters, not to mention that OR is about the most non-friendly NR state in the West. But what do you expect from a treehugger state?

Sure Oregon hates out-of-State hunters. That is why we have so many out of State license plates on hunter's and fishermen's vehicles. Probably it explains why we allow otc license and tag sales up to the day before the season opens. That is why their draw odds are as good as mine for deer and elk. The out-of-State hunter does not need a guide to hunt in the wilderness either. As for being "tree huggers"; it is not State and private land where the logging is restricted. It is the federal land. When it came to a vote here, restricting logging on State land was soundly defeated.

Oregon leans politically left and we have a lot of hunters, but we are not unfriendly and we are not opposed to good forest management, including tree harvest. Oregonians care about their forests as well as the rest of the environment. Moderate conservatives do very well here, but we drive radical ones nuts.

All those out of state license plates, are there hunting spikes. Less than a handful of NR tags in the premier Blue Mtn units relate to a NR nonfriendly state, when most other states allocate 10% of premium tags to NR.
Treehugger states are also identified by, voting Democrat, banning hunting bear over bait, banning hounds for lion hunting, etc. They’ll probably join CA as the next state to ban fur trapping.

The Treehugger faction of voting power resides in Multnomah County, and there is little one can do about those numbers in OR. (Many of which are voluntarily displaced from California). Aside from Portland Dem. stronghold, Oregon is a fine place to live, hunt and fish. It has just been polluted, the same as Colorado, and Montana, and even Wyoming are starting to become. Its sad. Logging restrictions and FS road closures on Fed. land started with none other than that power hungry corrupt group of scum called the Clinton family.

I made a career working for the Forest Service in timber management. The Clintons had nothing to do with the closures and restricted timber harvest. It was so bad during the latter part of the Reagan presidency and through the George H.W. Bush years that Clinton was campaigning in 1992 on his "NW Forest Plan" that was supposed to open up much of the Forests to logging. It never happened and the F.S. would not defend against the lawsuits. Since it was coming down to the Forests that the Regional Office would not defend even salvage logging, we were not even going after salvage very aggressively. The roads are not being maintained due to lack of funding. The roads were maintained by the loggers and the F.S. told Washington that logging was the cause of almost all maintenance needs, so let the loggers handle it. When the loggers were gone, the funding for road management was never increased to fill the void. After all the loggers were the reason for almost all road maintenance. Probably many more miles of road will be closed because they cannot be maintained to standard and they become a liability. In addition there are those that claim it enhances the environment for wildlife to close them.
