Score and age this buck.
Whitetail Deer

I shot this buck this year in Ohio on 10/17/2019. If anyone wants to take a crack at guessing his score and age take a shot at them. Later on I can add his weight and inside spread if you would like some aids. I scored him by these pictures prior to shooting him so I know how close I came and I am interested on how well others will do.
I’ll guess 4.5 and a touch over 160”. Looks like he’s at least 24” inside and I’m thinking he’s wider than that. Great 8 pointer, goyt!
Great buck!!! 161 6.5 years old
score- big enough! age- old enough! Congrats on a great buck.
He scored 153 he is 26.5 inches wide. He was a very nice 4.5 year old and he weighed in around 190 depending on when you killed him.
How the hell did that critter walk through the woods!!!
148 gross 6.5. Years old. Big frame..
152" and 5.5 I would say 24"s wide and dress 186#s. Shawn
164, 5.5, field dressed at 203 lbs and wide for any type of deer.
157 1/2 " age could be 3 to 17 nobody can tell by photo's on ages of deer, 244 live weight
I'll go with 4.5yo, 153", 25" inside, and 180# dressed.
He is a dandy. 146 and 185 dressed. 5.5 years old, 25" spread
26.5 Spread. 153". 4.5 years old
161 - 7yrs old 24" wide 4 wheel drive
5.5, 171”, 186 #s dressed
It really shows how different angles in pictures can change how big they look. If you showed me just the first or last picture. By guess would be 30" apart. I'd guess low 150's
150 3/8’s and 4.5 years old. Great buck!!
160" gross, 5.5 years old, dressed 215lbs.
147 gross and 6.5 years is my guess. Great bucks and congrats!!!!
7 1-2 year old, 156 gross and 235#s on the hoof is my guess. He has a tank of a body, plus deer generally don’t get that wide with brow tines that big in 3 or 4 years, so I have a feeling that deer is a little older than the general consensus so far.
Thank you to those who sent congratulations and thank you to everyone that participated. I will provide some additional information. Here is a picture that I think is this buck in 2017.
Here is a picture of this buck in 2018
I came up with 154 but that seems low so I’ll go 161”, 24” inside, 5.5 years old and way over 200lbs field dressed. Congratulations on a great trophy!
Here is a photo where he fell.
Congrats goyt that's a beautiful buck, I'm wondering what those mainbeams taped out at. I took my best buck to date last year in Ohio that was 25" inside and had 30" mainbeams and your buck looks similar. Good job
Although it may not be apparent from the 2017, 2018 and 1019 pictures he grew a lot each year in both body an antlers. I saw him live in 2017 and 2018 and gave him a pass. He just did not look mature. I guessed him at low 140s gross in 2018. He put on a lot of weight and bone between 2018 and 2019. I think at he was 3 1/2 in 2017 and 5 1/2 this year.
Jack Harris was the closest to his dressed weight at 215# but still a little low. He tipped the scale at 220# with his hooves just touching the floor. I think we had almost no weight on the floor but we did not have enough room to lift him higher.
Give me a day or so on the score. I have a very rough score and I need to either redo it myself or have him officially scored. The drying period is over 12/16 and there is a scorer near me. Feel free to revise your estimates. The field picture above may make him look a little bigger than he is due to the angle but it is hard to take a picture that makes him look small at least to me.
Gives us a clue on the inside spread!
Above is the best picture I have for size as I am right on top of the buck which gives good perspective. There is a black dot 6-8" in front of the top of the front leg. That is where the arrow came out. It broke off before the buck could bleed and closed up. The arrow went in on the right side behind the shoulder. Hard quarterly away shot at 25 yards and the only one I was going to get. He know that something was wrong and was leaving.
I was close on the 24” inside. I’ll stick with 161”. What an awesome 8 point! Congratulations again.
so I may have to go up from 160 knowing he is 24" inside spread which makes his beams longer than I figured. Still hard for an 8pt to break 150, let along 160, and hitting 170 is even rarer... BUT..... Ok - 171 5/8 gross... Awesome buck and congratulations
Jack, You are right that it is hard for an 8 to break 150". I get 155 7/8 " gross and 153 4/8" net. Here is the score sheet. I had guessed him at 150" net from the pictures but I was off on almost everything! I had the points too long and the beams and spread to short but my errors averaged out to get me within 3 4/8". Regardless what he scores, I think that he has a lot of WOW power and I am extremely happy to have gotten a shot at him. His mass going all the way to the tip of his points is pretty neat.
Goyt, that is awesome! Very symmetrical rack with very few deductions. I should’ve stayed with the 154” I came up with;)
RM Hunter and Ghost425 both had him at 156" which is darn close. There are a number of guys that got close to what I scored him. Of course his official score will be different. I certainly struggled to put a score on an 8 point with that type of spread and mass from pictures. Without knowing his body size it is tough IMO.
That for all of the kind words.
deer hunter, I had to smile when I saw your first post. When I showed people a picture and answered their question on the score with about 155" gross and 153" net more than half told me that he had to go over 160". I always wanted to get an 8 which would make Buckeye Big Buck which is 140"so I am pleased.
Tine length is lacking on him obviously or he'd easily been 160. Either way a stud of a deer congrats to you
Very nice deer! Congratulations!
goyt, a big, clean, and very wide typical 8 has always been on my bucket list! Doubt that I’ll ever get one like that. Good on you for passing him on him a few times to let him get to where he got.
shoulda stuck with 160 - less embarrassing! lol. What the hell do I know? Great buck regardless
One last update. I had the buck officially scored tonight and I was off by about 3". I wanted to be a little conservative but that is embarrassing. I had the main beams both short by 4/8" for a total of 1". Ended up I should have measured the G-1s from the front instead of the back because of the way they curved. I had them short by 6/8" for another 1 4/8". The official score is 159 4/8" gross and 156 4/8" net. Can I stretch it to call it a 160" 8 point?
Thanks for participating. I do not think that anyone needs to be concerned about their estimates seeing that I was off by 3 5/8' on the gross score when I measured him!
Beautiful buck, many CONGRATS!!!
Great buck, goyt! Love those big 8 points.
BTW.... I wasn’t off by much. What do I win?? ;-)
t-roy, a huge basket of satisfaction! Zbone, thanks. He came from Coshocton county.
Wow! Do you need my mailing address, or can you just text that to me! ;-)
I guessed 156" so I will close. Definitely a stud of a 8pt. Congrats on a great deer
RMHunter you were close as were a lot of guys. Brian M was the closest at 159 2/8" and I agree with his 5.5 for age. Brian was within 2/8"! t-roy and Jack Harris were both at 160" which is within 4/8"! Seeing that there are 8 length measurements if you are off by 1 2/8"' each that is 10". If you are off by 5/8" each that is 5"! There are 8 mass measurements. Looking at the diameter if you are off by 3/8" the mass measurement is off by over an inch or a total of over 8". If you are off by 3/16" each that is still over 4". I am impressed with how well everyone did. Thank you for the congratulations.
Here is my 2018 Ohio buck which was also 25" inside, they grow them big up there
Very nice! Congratulations. What did he score?
Not as big as yours Jacko
he has as much "wow" factor as any buck anybody could have on the wall
for those who love wide bucks, this one is their dream !!!
Thanks for the kind comments. Now I have to figure out what kind of a mount to get. I am thing about a pedestal mount so that he can be close to eye level. I have some mounts higher on the wall and the viewing distance and angle distracts from them.
Fantastic buck...congrats!
goyt, I was gonna say around 160" Great looking buck, that's a helluva set of goal posts in the first pics!!!
What county did you get him in?
The buck was shot in Coshocton County. Pm me if you want to discuss the area.

I am considering a pedestal mount as well for my giant 10. Odds of me shooting a 168” buck again are slim in NJ or any state for that matter. Want to do something different.
Jack, I have a 10 that nets 168"+ and I have taken him down to clean. He looks so much bigger sitting on the floor. Congratulations on a beautiful buck! I saw the picture on your thread>
