While a Mathews Halon 6 may not be an old bow to some, as someone used to buying a new bow every other year it is to me. Due to life’s responsibilities I’m trying to hold off a little longer on buying a new one. This bow fits me and shoots very well also. Has anyone ever cerakoted their riser? Any pros or cons? New string recommendations? Anybody have pics of cerakoted risers on a halon with leaving the camo limbs?

Waste of money no reason to . Better off saving for new bow.

Agree with Spike, new string yes, paint the riser, no.

I agree with the above. Buy new strings/cables and go hunting. For strings I would look at 60x and Gas.
If you are trying to save money why do anything else.

New strings and cables are worthwhile if you want to use the bow. Cerakoting would be a waste of money IMO, spray paint is way cheaper.

I’d put new cables on her and give it a paint job if it makes you happy

I refinished my carbon element with some decent rattle can primer and some good quality texture paint. I had about $20 in the job plus my time.

I like what you did to that Hoyt carbon element. I have the same bow with the same original camo paint job. You are giving me some ideas.

I also use ultra flat spray in various colors on my bows. Mine's a lot uglier than huntinelk's but the critters don't mind.

I like the texture spray paint, it is fairly durable once it fully dried, covers prep imperfections, and is fairly easy to touch up if needed.
I've had good luck with 60X strings

I used a green scotch brite pad to scuff up and smooth the old finish and scratches then I wiped it off with acetone to clean anything that would keep the paint from sticking.

Are you worried at all about the acetone? I thought white gas/ denatured alcohol was better for cleaning carbon, even when its painted...
Nice Job though!!

12yards, I use my bow as a tool, it is definitely abused a little!
