Thought you all might enjoy these photos I took of the Hell Canyon herd here in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I’ve had the pleasure of watching these rams grow up over the past 6-7 years. Can’t wait to see what they become!

Jake, I was within anywhere from 20-150 yards. They are very lightly hunted so are only somewhat afraid of people. You can kind of determine their comfort level just by judging by their body language. The rams are a little tougher to approach than the ewes. Bow range would be zero problem if one held one of the 2 tags to hunt them.

Thats the same heard we saw. i get a kick out of the way the rams turn their head as they approach for a sniff. It was always to the right when i was watching. Did you manage to see any elk?

Great pictures! Love watching sheep!

Really amazing the success that SD G&F has had with the sheep herds!

Hope you are able to get a tag sometime Brotsky!

Imagine how big they'll be when you draw, Justin! You know, if they're still alive. ;-)

Ya gotta believe!

Nick, you mean if I’m still alive by the time I draw! :-)

Grizz, we saw probably 7-800 head of elk. My dad took a beautiful cow the first day out. Pic is in the K114 thread.

Great pictures Brotsky, we should be very proud of the sheep in our state. What a treat it is to see them South Dakota as well as the goats. We may never get the chance to shoot one. But maybe our kids or grandkids will.

Great pics. See them in there all the time anymore. Definitely the rams are starting to look pretty good! Really makes the drive to Rapid City nice when you get to see that so often.

I was more like wondering if Kia was looking over the pics, and picking out which ram she would shoot when she draws that tag! Cool animals for sure.
