Always exciting to get the news that a mount is completed and ready to be picked up, especially when its accompanied by pics like these. Absolutely thrilled with how it turned out and can't wait to see it in person. Nevada mountain lion that I took with Canyon's West. Mounted by Jim Kelly in Ringoes, NJ.
The eyes actually shine like a real cats when hit with a flashlight or camera flash.
Looks great! Those first two pics must be an optical illusion. Because they look like about the same angle but head looks turn back a lot more in second picture. Had to look at them for a while to figure out.
You sure that that things still not alive, looks real nice. Just don't put it in your bedroom and have to wake up to that sight.LOL.
Fantastic! I'm not a fan of the snarling full on attack mode pose, so I think yours turned out great!
One of the nicest I have seen! Congratulations!
Great looking Cat!Congratulations.
Congratulations.......beautiful looking mount!
Nice looking cat mount, they are unfortunately very hard to come by. Congratulations.
Great looking mount! I leave for my first cat hunt in 3 weeks!
Congrats. Beautiful mount.
Absolutely gorgeous mount! Well done!
Amazing, it looks absolutely alive. Never seen better work.
That’s beautiful! Bet you are happy it didn’t turn out looking like a cartoon character :^)
That will be fun to look at years to come. Nice Lion.
Very nice....I`m tired of seeing the "viscous snarl" mounts. Great choice.
That's as nice a lion mount as I've ever seen, great job. Lions are perhaps the most difficult of all the NA species to get to look right. I'm surprised a taxidermist in NJ would have had enough practice at it to get that good.
Congrats on an incredible mount!
That is incredible! Gorgeous mount!
Your taxidermist surely got that right! Tip him well, he did what few are able to. You can display that proudly for the rest of your life.
Looks like a picture of a live animal. That’s really neat. Enjoy!
On many FB mounts the face can make or break the look of the mount and yours is simply amazing!!
Good luck, Robb
Your taxidermist nailed the look very natural very nice
Wow Steke. ! That is beautiful.
incredible work, very lifelike
Beautiful lion mount! Congratulations!
I kind of regret not doing a life size mount on a lion... That mount makes me want to go get another one!
Jim is a talented artist... And a hell of a nice guy
Very nice. Cats seem to be some of the most challenging mounts. I've seen very few that life like.
Very very nice mount! Making me reconsider what I'd do with a cat of my own.
Wow! Impressive doesn’t even come close to describing that mount! Congrats!
Love to have that cat standing by my F 250 to keep the neighbors cat-off my truck at night .Dang things have scratched the heck out of it .Good mount there.
That's one of the most life-like and well done mounts I've ever seen.
Fantastic mount! Cats have to be one of the most difficult to get right and your taxi nailed it!
Absolutely gorgeous mount!
Nice in deed. Lots of great memories there. my best, Paul
Great cat & awesome mount - congrats on both!
Not many cat mounts turn out well. This is an exceptional exception to the rule, IMO. Awesome mount!
wow very well done.... cat's are the hardest animal to have mounted imo... mine came out good but not great. This is fantastic.
I hope you tipped him well because he nailed it! Best cat mount I've ever seen! Just about ever cat mount I've ever seen there's always something, some little thing that just ain't quite right, usually the eyes, but not yours. Looks like it could drop down and eat ya!
Steve, your cat looks spectacular. “Not many cat mounts turn out well”, “ mine came out good but not great”, “Just about ever cat mount I've ever seen there's always something, some little thing that just ain't quite right”. All those comments above are spot on when it comes to Cougar mounts. When I killed my lion in Alberta with Byron Stewart, he did everything he could to convince me to use his recommended taxidermist, Phil Soucy. And for good reason, Phil is considered by many “in the know” guys to be the best Cougar taxidermist on the planet. But my taxidermist is also Jim Kelly of Ringoes New Jersey. Same guy that mounted Stekwood’s cat above. And my cat mount looks equally as beautiful. It’s no accident Steve’s cat turned out so good. But Jim is no Cougar expert, he’s just a flat out expert. Everything he mounts looks like it’s gonna jump off the wall. Like every master artist, he’s also bat-shit crazy (in a nose-to-the-grindstone, do it all himself, work 100 hours a week in his little basement shop kinda way), but he really is the absolute best of the best. Jim is very low profile but he’s finally started to get the attention he deserves, and his back log of life size orders of game taken all over the world has grown to a point that is really making him nuts. But his work is just impeccable and I’m lucky he’s only a few miles away. He ships just about anywhere so if you find yourself with that trophy of a lifetime someday and only the best will do you should consider him.
Wow! I've seen very few cat mounts that impressed me. Yours is beautiful.
Pretty darn cool. Very realistic! Kevin
Unreal! I leave for Utah next Tuesday for my first cat hunt. It took me about 30 seconds of reading before I called Jim and left a message. Phenomenal work!
That's an awesome looking mount! And I LOVE the pose. I'm not a fan of the snarling poses, nor of any pose where the ass of the animal is above the head. . . . I just prefer a head up pose. Great mount
Jim is the best in the business. His work is impeccable because he cares and make sure all the little details are done. Not to mention one of the most honest, hardworking and nicest person you can meet. You want your trophy to look alive he’s your guy!!!
It’s a Jim Kelly Love-Fest for Christmas. Too bad he got banned from the Bowsite!
^^^^ Didn't Know That^^^^
great cat and a beautiful mount, you can and should be proud!
If I ever take a cat, I want a lying pose on a wall mounted log that I finish. I just want a relaxed cat, just like I try to be... LOL!
I’ve had two cats done by Jim and they bring me right back to the moment I was under the tree. His work is flawless!
i Have treed more cats than I can remember and that one looks very real to me. Nice mount
Cat mounts are difficult, however your taxidermist nailed it on this one... A very natural look to go with a nice specimen. Eyes are cool.
Awesome looking mount now some speakers with a remote control and a cougar scream would run most anyone right back out of your house!
Beautiful! Looks like a live cat. Congrats on the cat and also on choosing the right taxidermist.
Very impressive! That is a great looking cat!!
Beautiful cat mount, habitat included !
Wow Steve. That’s awesome
Congrads Stekewood Jim is the Best Like Busta said Doesn't matter what he mounts he will make sure it right. He's done 3 diff animals for me and all are Beautiful.
Great looking Taxidermy work
