Can use some input Recently harvested a 150# deer at first glance was a doe . When I walked up to it . I found a 1in polished pencil thin antler an a 1.5in antler with a chip also pencil thin and polished It was definitely a buck in full rut by the smell it was giving off . Still legal under my doe permit . Pulled the jaw bone and by the dental aging it was 2.5 years old Any thoughts

The only thing antlers are good for is stirring soup.

That`s very odd that it wouldn`t have some form of a rack at 2.5. Did you notice any problems in the wedding tackle department when field dressing it.

Bigger than this "rack"?

At 2.5 years of age, I think it’d be safe to call that one a legitimate “cull buck”. So congrats - you may be the first hunter in America to have taken one.

Question: was he bragging about the size of his “long, lovely” hooves when you shot him?

short-spiked 1.5 and 2.5 year olds are common in my area

I've got a 90" 8 point whitetail that was lean and still dressed 205 from northern MN. I sent the teeth in and it was 6.5 years old. They are like people, some big, some small and in between you get all variations.

Those two sets above are from Washington State.... ;^] Blacktails.... But yeah, they dwarf these puny NY deer. Don't bother to come hunt here, waste of time.... ;) unless you like squirrels and Liberals, they are all over the place. :^]3

Those little guys probably get more leftovers than the big boys
