I had not hunted geese for a few days as I was in Denver at the ISE show, working the Stopthewolf booth and then the CBA booth in the afternoon.
But I was eager to get out this morning and try again. The Full Moon was setting in the west when I arrived. Good, bad moon phase?? I just hunt whenever and let what happens, happen. Fifteen degrees and light winds, some frost on the ground. 8 am and ready to go.

this happened............... this flock reacted to the calling, circled twice, locked winds, but then flew away. So close
I do believe this is the same flock that has avoided the deocoys before.

the arrow had passed though the goose but I planted the goose farther away for a longer retrieve.

I heeled Chase, lined him up, and set him on his way. I know he had a smile on his face as I did.

A few more geese were around but no encounters. At 10:30 I picked up but satisfied with the hunt.

when I drove off the property and down the highway, this flock was down the road, next door, minus one Yard Hopper for sure.

Hey JT , not sure how many use a trail camera for goose hunting, but it worked and yes, add a few more pictures. I have had a fox, racoon, deer and squirrels on that camera. and now geese. I know there is a bobcat in the area.

Paul, I see by the "time stamp" on the trail camera that they were there at 4:25 PM, have you tried afternoon/evening hunts? Keep em coming, very enjoyable to come along with you on these hunts.

INshaft, I have considered a PM hunt but think if they have a chance to visit the pasture without being challenged and without any decoys there, they will be less spooked and then in the am, more willing to commit. Three or four times I have returned in the pm just by driving up the driveway and have seen a few in the surrounding area and yards. But I just leave them alone for the next AM. my best, Paul
