8:05 am, I did not get a chance to turn on the duck motion, as these geese showed up and were over us before we knew it. I quickly called and then Chase and I both dove into the blind un seen.

Nice hunt! For the record, I have never had much success decoying geese with a spinning wing decoy...they tend to flare off of them and we usually end up taking them down. I'll be interested to see what your results are if you get them on.... Kip

a great morning! Have you tried any afternoons?

From: Paul@thefort

William, THis is the first time I have tried the motion duck for these geese. but I have tried a goose flag on a long pole with some success. I have killed nearly 80 geese off this property without the motion. The duck was off when the first flock came in, but was on when the second flock landed and was spinning when I shot. Not sure if I will use it again but maybe if the urge arises. I have watched a lots of geese on the ground and there is not a lot of motion, , but slow motion. Being/hunting where the geese want to go is the key.

NJbuck, NO I have not, I let the property rest in the PM. Thanks for the questions. my best, Paul , oh, and Chase

Paul, I could imagine it is a tough task trying to get pics without spooking the geese and manage to get a shot off as well. Those adversities make your photos even more impressive, outstanding all the way around! Chase looks like a heck of a good dog as well!

drycreek, but for FUN TIME surely . I just breasted out the geese and the second one I shot almost got away, except the arrow sliced its neck almost in half. Surely a game of inches sometimes.

JTV, same one I have been using for most if not all for turkeys and geese I have killed, and that is nearly 50 turkeys and 80 geese. NAP Shockforce expandable. I would buy them on sale at Walmart for $19 for three, but they do not carry them now. But with a little straightening of the blades if needed and resharpening the tip, ready to go again. Tough head. Most Expandable heads will work if solid enough. Paul

Yea, geese are thin skinned but with heave wing bones and wing feathers. If you break a wing, they are done for which happens about half of the time.

From: Paul@thefort

Chief, the season started a little slow with no opportunities during the first few hunt. The big reason was that early big snow storm and the cold temp, pushed the geese out of the area. It now seems some have returned thus the success of the last three hunts.
