Has anyone ever mounted just a moose beard? I harvested a cow in October and I kept the beard

It’s called a waddle or more appropriately a bell. And answer is no.

Some have the “bell and rope.”with a “rope like appendage hanging from the bell.
First moose I shot had both but didn’t end up on the mount as big and full as when animal was alive . Disappointing
No real understanding what it’s function is other than another decoration to attract females during rut. Speculation that some bulls may loose the rope like appendage due to severe cold weather and doesn’t grow back.

Dewlap
We once saw a bull that had the longest dewlap I've ever seen. We nicknamed him Dewey, though my buddy wanted to call him 'Johnson'.

My New Hampshire bull had no bell at all. When I first got him home I thought the taxidermist screwed up but then never remembered seeing one on him. Was told often they are damaged or frozen off. Or maybe mites chew them off like they do for turkey.

My Newfie moose had a long one, wouldn't want to mount it by itself.
