Anybody here now?
So far so good. Some great raffles to build and smash dreams. I’ll wander around the floor for the day before the big banquet tonight where I’ll get tired from running up to the stage to accept yet another fantastic hunt draw!
I believe there are at least two more bowsiters here that are laying low because they promised to buy me lunch and a beer. Probably putting the savings into more raffle tickets.
I’m on my way home tomorrow. I started my trip on December 30th and made it close the Mexican border where I hunted Coues deer. The original plan was for Javelina, but the tags were all gone, so with a deer tag in hand and help from a couple other bowsiters, I started my Coues hunting career. No beginner’s luck, but some close, intense encounters has guaranteed a return!
So anybody else wandering the Field of Dreams in Reno today?
Hope you pull a hammie running back and forth up to the stage accepting you raffle vouchers, Rod. Good luck! Be careful hanging around some of the shadier Bowsite characters out there, though.
I think the shadiest ones are snowed in in Iowa Rod, no worries! :)
I met JTreeman. Didn’t recognize him because he said “ look for a tall, handsome guy”. I know which table to watch at the banquet tonight now too.
Talked to Matt as well.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

You should have know that was not true. All the tall and handsome guys from OK moved to CO. ;)
Here. Auction items are going for CRAZY money. Probably 50% over typical. Amazing.
Yukon Dall Sheep tag just went for $340,000 if that gives you an idea...
Yeah crazy prices!!
Fortunately I was able to buy a sheep hunt for $80, so I didn’t have to bid!
Great show, a must go every year. Fortunately my dall sheep tags are free :)
"Yukon Dall Sheep tag just went for $340,000 if that gives you an idea..."
And guys in Colorado complain about a $60 elk tag. Wow.
Any sign of Kyle (NvaGvUp) at the show, boys?
Matt
It’s actually pretty cool that there are people with deep pockets and a deeper desire to help keep sheep populations sustainable, growing and expanding to new suitable areas.
So, from the guys like me that can only buy a few hundred dollars worth of raffle tickets, thanks to those that can and do go over and above!!
One of my favorite events of the year. The amount of money raised for wild sheep conservation was phenomenal. Always great to hang out with fellow Bowsiters for a few days.
Next year if I’m alive I’ll come say hi
Shug, you can come if you are dead too, we don’t discriminate.
—Jim
Shug...You’re “out” and I’m “in” as Nick’s favorite roommate! You’re still “special” to him though. ;)
I really do indeed enjoy long miles driving in my JP~Gladiator

I had a lot of fun this year even though I didn't win any Life Member raffles or any other raffles dang it! haha
I really missed not getting with Kyle or Tom (Foss) or Kim as she was my 'Boss' when WSF was in SLC (Salt Lake City) and I was her only local WSF volunteer!!
Although I did stay the first night in Incline Village @ an Airbnb I did indeed have many miles to travel on Thursday.
More to follow in the AM fella's-------> driving all night, I'm beat and playing catch-up here @ home
Good luck, Robb
PS~~Nevada is one Black Night SOB when driving east @ 0230.....haha
Far and away my favorite show. The wife and I make new Friends every year. She loves the ladies Luncheon
Many of you got my Text of the lil 21 second video of the beach, wind and waves crashing......that morning

I shorten my drive by about 70 miles by taking the cutoff for hwy. 50 in Thelsey (sp) instead of driving to Reno and then taking 585/395 down to Carson City and catching hwy 50 there......up and over toward South Lake Tahoe City until the turn off for hwy 28 to Incline Village.
I met the Aibnb owner girl that evening and she has 6 Airbnb properties around Lake Tahoe.....real nice person and very humble.
The rates almost doubled on Friday and Saturday night so I was staying just one night as I had another Airbnb booked closer to Reno for the rest of my stay.
A real nice Brisk walk along the beach in the morning after the snow had quit falling and then it was time for the big climb up and over Mnt. Rose hwy 431 and off to the Sheep Show. I was in 4x4 wheel drive all the way up and over and down!

Whole new meaning to the Pot Belly BBQ--------->
I did make a few purchases but these by far are my FAV purchase and for sure some great Sheep Show pricing.
I think it was on Jeff's (JTV) PF heel thread that the Good Feet Store was brought up so I spent some time at my local store and they decided I was having foot fatigue from my boots when in rough rocky country hunting or more so helping other tag holders out in Mnt. Goat and Sheep country.
It was strongly suggested that I get a more solid boot but I didn't want those that are like a Ski Boot!!
After spending time at each of the boot booths at the Sheep Show, I ended up with these......
Well that wraps it up for me Ladies and Gentlemen----------> I'm almost outta pix! haha
#LovinLife,
Robb
I really need to attend one of these years.
Really like my Scarpa’s Robb. Hopefully you won’t be disappointed! Thanks for posting the pics and thank you to all of you for your support of wild sheep!
Great time raising money and booking mountain hunts with the crew!
I am always amazed at the vast amount of money raised for conservation at the Sheep Show!
Mark
Another Sheep Show in the books...my body is almost recovered. So many great aspects to the show...catching up with outfits I've hunted with, lining out the next years' hunts, checking out (ok, purchasing) new gear.
But no doubt my favorite part is sharing a beverage (or, you know, a "few") with friends, old and new. Most of these friends (if they'll let me call them that) are friends because of bowsite. So bigpizzaman, cajunarcher, Zackman, JTreeman, kota-man, Matt, Mark Watkins, Nick Muche, and to the others whose bowsite handle I don't know like JP, Bill, and the rest of the Sheep Show All-Stars...I'm already looking forward to the 2021 Show!
Any flaming donkeys consumed at the show, BEG??!
No flaming donkeys, Troy...but plenty of beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, gin, etc etc etc!
When ya get inside early in the morning when they first open up you can get some personal attention at the F&G booths as hardly anyone is visiting with them.
I got some real good intel and looking over unit maps @ the Nv. Department booth. It's always nice to have more private time when not anyone is hanging around.
I quit drinking a few years back but if you guys need a Designated Driver!! haha
Good luck, Robb
If someone has the auction results, PM me, please. I’d like to see them. Currently hunting in Old Mexico for Coues but will be back in Reno next year.
I tried to find the "Table of Legendary Misfits" by wandering around the room on Saturday night, but since JTreeman had already met me, he was able to tell everyone when to duck as I passed by. I did manage to ambush Frank Noska and two BC boys got a pic with him!
It's funny when cruising around the convention floor filled with Guide Outfitters, and many from BC that I know or know of. They are friendly and quick to engage until the "..so where from from " question is answered with ".. from BC". Then you are a spy!
We bought a ton of tickets on Desert sheep hunts (fueled on free beer and shots) . But our laugh always came when someone would push the one Stone sheep hunt draw.
"Want a chance at a great hunt?"
"How much is a ticket?"
"Only a hundred bucks!!"
"Hmm, maybe I'll just buy the tag for eighty bucks and be guaranteed to hunt."
"You bastards are from BC aren't you?!"
I notice the same thing Rod, most of the BC outfitters clam up pretty fast when they find out where you are from. Good talking with them anyway, and some are really decent despite our residency.
Should have had hats made, “Make Sheep Hunting Great Again”. Sheep benefit from a strong economy it sounds like. I have to stay away from the Reno show. I don’t go to Casinos but I LOVE raffles.
Anyone know how many names they went through before they had someone present at the 1 more for 4 drawing?
Dogman—Not many. Not even sure they drew 2.
—Jim
Good times once again. Glad it only happens once a year!
Amazing you were able to get that many Allstars together so early in the morning.
And remember, beer's not just for breakfast anymore.
That ?? Was supposed to be a thumbs up emoji. I guess that doesn’t work. Sorry for that.
Matt, I don't think they had been to bed yet.
Had a pretty amazing experience on my first Sheep Show. Great connecting with old friends and making some new ones!!
Trevor, Congratulations to you and Kyle Stelter and the BC Wild Sheep Society for your awards. Well deserved and earned! These two do a bunch for wild sheep in BC and nice to see the recognition for it. Kurt
Sheep hunting and the Sheep Show are actually very similar........you feel like shit, your body hurts, you're exhausted.... but you just keep going with a smile on your face!
Mark
^^^Mark with the winning analogy.^^^ I'm still "sore"...
I think you two are just old and can't hang with the youngsters!! Lol!!
A few of us are kind of hard to keep up with Scott, give them some slack :)
Thanks for the kind words Kurt. Still hasn't really sunk in the type of honor that we were given down there. Being a small part of what the WSSBC is doing is pretty cool and was great connecting with people about what we're doing and where we want to go with the Jurassic Classic one day.
Hahahahah, DEMO I was thinking the same thing. But was trying to show some respect to my elders!
—Jim
You guys are hilarious...
One of my favourite scenes was at the <1 free beer and draws event. One winner comes running through the crowd, hooting and high five’ing, then somersaults onto the stage! A sheep hunter is born!! And likely a guy that would never have the opportunity otherwise. We bumped into him a couple times and he was still a bit in shock.
Cool photos and thanks for sharing,,, and not to ruff feathers so to speak, but am curious how they got the Bald Eagle/Bear mount... Thought it was a no no to possess eagle parts unless used for Native American ceremonies...
I kinda thought the same, but figured it was not my business. They obviously had the legalities covered or it wouldn’t be right out in the middle of a show.
Also kinda odd to walk into someones home in Canada with taxidermy bald eagles, hawks, owls, etc, but obviously that is a different country....
—Jim
Isn’t this just an awards organization??
"Isn’t this just an awards organization??"
That convention is next week in Vegas.
