But then as you guys know like any hunt, sometime it works and sometimes not, in spite of best efforts.

the geese did not wait for sun up. I was in the blind at 7 am. Warm morning 35 degrees, cloudy, light wind. temps heading for 50 degrees today.

Congrats! You are a true inspiration. Thanks for taking us along!
You're getting too good, time to get out the recurve.
That's incredible. I'm sure the number of folks who have killed a limit of geese with archery tackle is extremely small. Well done!
Holy crap, what a day! Great job you two!
Thanks for showing us that it can be done and how it is done! Congrats to you and Chase!
Way to go Paul, a truly outstanding for you and Chase! Excellent photos and recap as usual, thanks for sharing!
Awesome Paul! ThNks for sharing
Congratulations on a fine season, nice pictures and I enjoyed the hunt.
Thanks guys, What do you expect on Jan 25, the Lunar New Year 2020.
But here is something strange for today. After the hunt and at home I decided to take a nap. The clock said, 11:11 am when my head hit the pillow. When I woke, the clock said, 12:12 pm. Humm! I looked up the Chinese Calendar but there was no goose year. Go figure. NO I do not believe in ghosts or Big Foot.
Outstanding Paul! I'm very happy for you and Chase. What a great day afield!
Pretty cool! You need to get a video cam and set it up on a tripod over your shoulder my friend! Congrats on another great day
Way to go Paul!! Do you have a specific recipe for goose?
That’s awsome Paul!! Congrats!
Hell yes Paul!! Thats a great day!!
Epic day Paul and Chase!! Way to go!
Good deal Paul. What’s up with the cast on Chase?
Longbeard. IN this Small Game conference, a few weeks back, see Post, Special Edition, for a goose recipe, which turned out to be quite good.
Spike78. Not a cast. Chase split his toe nail, we trimmed it, and then put the boot on for protection until it heals.
SitO. I need you to come and video behind me. :)
so you do not think I just throw the geese away, this is how I take the meat off the goose 1. Pluck feathers off in line with the breast bone

Congrats Paul, maybe you have them figured out now! At least until the next time ;)
Thanks for taking us along.

OUTSTANDING !!!!! What a man, what a dog !
Absolutely incredible...you just keep topping your previous adventures...congrats to you and Chase...glad to hear the boot wasnt for something serious....we all worry about the puppy...congrats again...so cool!!
Congratulations Paul , fine job on the geese with a bow. Those goose wing feathers work real good for fletching on arrows. Kurt
Heck ya! Great job Paul!!
Great job Paul and Chase! Congrats on the archery five goose limit!
HAHAHAAAA!! Love it! You’re hard hopper spots look like the places we hunt white tails....
Thanks for sharing Paul. Love these threads. Funny how many of us “murderers” love our dogs as if they were our offspring.
Awesome, great hunt for you two. Forrest
Way to go. Fun stories. You've got a pretty slick set up, Paul.
Hey Ki-Ke, not many whitetails around but would this mule deer do? Yard Hopper buck for sure.
Great hunt Paul! How long does the season go for?
Great hunt Paul! How long does the season go for? Now every time I open Bowsite - the first thing I look for is the "yard hopper" thread.
Paul-
He would do. We sometimes have a hard time untangling dead bucks antlers from the neighbors swing set.....
Bob, the goose season goes until Feb 26th. Thirteen geese this season may be my personal limit; over 80 geese killed for these 9 seasons. What I might do, might do, is to move the Dark Horse blind up to the house location so I can use my recurve bow because of the larger size and height of the blind. If I do that my effective range will be 20 yards and under, perferring 10 yards.
I do want to change it up some and do some ice fishing so the goose hunt will take the back burner. by best, Paul
Holy smokes, Paul! What a fun Day!
Great work, Paul and Chase!
Outstanding Paul, congrats....and thank you for sharing these hunts with us!
Awesome, thanks for always sharing your hunts.
Incredible. Some great shooting and fine eating. Congrats.
OK, just returned from the goose pasture and relocated the Dark Horse blind where the T-2 blind was yesterday, so I can use my recurve bow as this blind is larger and taller. Will not hunt until the middle of next week, got to practice some with the stick, so maybe there might be goose 14 on the ground, that is if I can shoot straight with the stick. I was not going to hunt geese anymore this season, until I was challenged to use the stick. What's a guy to do? my best, Paul
You’re equal to the challenge Paul, you and Chase get after ‘em. Good luck !
Congrats Paul, that is quite the accomplishment. Looks like you and Chase have had a great adventure with the geese. I'm feeling #14 with the recurve for you. Best of luck.
That's awesome! You are the man!! And wonder dog!!!

Always enjoy these threads, congrats again on your continued success and thanks for posting...these are great reads!
Paul, something you might try with your dog's split nail. Super glue!! My girl had a bad one, the season was still on and I tried it. hunting dry land and the river it held. Just cleaned and trimmed the bad one, applied it to the split, made her sit still for about a minute ans voila! all fixed. it's held for a month.
DDD
I forget.... Do you keep Chase in the blind ‘til you’ve retrieved your arrow?
I’m assuming that you use broadheads, but that seems like a bad mix with a pup...
A five bird limit with the bow, congrats! I believe the "training" is pretty well done with Chase. Those blind retrieves are now rewards to both you and a great dog!
Love these threads. Thanks Paul!
GF, YES, I have been very careful with the arrow in goose issue. Thanks, for the question. Paul
Great story as usual Paul. Thanks for sharing. If I'd have ever given my old lab 5 treats at one time, It'd gone in hiding thinking I was about to take her to the vet.
DDD, I did that and just applied another coat as you recommended me to do it. Thanks
Nice. I always enjoy the goose hunts you and chase take us on.
Paul your heroism just grows with me! I remember in my younger days owning a v-drive boat that would do a legit 80mph. One morning we were the first on the lake and I was slalom skiing and ran right into a large flock of those darned things your killing! I had one hit me in the belly and one hit me in the head at 60mph. I ought to send you some treats! Wasn't Dot's one of your favorites?
Great day, Paul! Congrats!
Can't beat that morning hunt. Good stuff.
Can't beat that morning hunt. Good stuff.
BH24, Dot's, what do you think I am baiting these geese with?????????????? :) as they are not fit for MOST non beer drinking humans.
What an amazing day Paul! Just a couple of young pups out there having a blast! :-) Congratulations!
Justin, What is interesting is that Chase has a birthday on Feb. 14 (he will be 11) and mine in on March 7. (80 years) Yep, young at heart still having fun. Young pups, LOL. my best, paul
That was awesome! Always finishing strong, seems every year. Thanks for takin' us along!
80!?! Congrats! Man, just when I think I'm closing the gap I look up and he's still out in the lead.... =D
I know Paul baby's the Wonder Dog (just check out all the treats...) and pulls non-pass thoughs out before the retrieve, but couldn't help myself when I showed Coach and she was asking about it..... I told her it was no problem. Chase has it down..... he learned about arrows quite a while ago.... just check out his eye....
LOL! I had to come clean and fess up with the real story before I could peel her off the ceiling.....
O-man! that was mean. No treats for you and I called your wife and told here so! TREATS and I do mean TREATS :) :). my best, Paul
