Looking for a reasonable and good (if those two words can go together) archery outfitter in Wyoming unit 45. Open to either fully outfitted or drop camp. On thread or PM is fine. Appreciate any input!

Hunted there DIY in 2014 and pretty sure we saw trucks with Seven J's Outfitting logo.

You're welcome. It was a good hunt and we were into elk pretty much every day with lots of bugling.

Know of anyone who does drop camps there? I contacted Seven J and they would not confirm the unit number. They expect you to engage them and deposit without knowing the unit. Never heard of such a thing. I said thanks but no thanks.

No, sorry, only hunted there the one year. I don't know how experienced of an elk hunter you are but we got into elk very close to our truck base camp on several occasions and had no need for a drop camp or guide.

After that post I got a contact from another of their guides who confirmed the unit. I’m sure they’re good but I dont think they’re for me.
Mike, thanks I do have a good bit of experience having been on about 16 elk hunts so that could be an option. A nice drop camp still sounds interesting or a reasonable outfit as I only have 7-10 days and won’t make it out from Ohio scouting.

I'd say they're not for alot of people after hearing that.

Steve, have you searched for outfitters around Worland? I'm sure someone up there would be willing to pack you in for a drop camp, if not a fully outfitted hunt.

I don’t think you’d need a drop camp on 45. Lots of roads besides the wilderness, can’t hunt that on a drop set up. RV by owner could find one and have it set up b4 you get there might be a option, seen that done before.

Grey Ghost- thanks much, I will try a search that way. Elkmo - that’s a great idea!

As discussed above. 45 has a ton of roads and atv trails. Probably not the unit for a drop camp.

Not really a drop camp unit. Nonres cant hunt the wilderness without a guide and the non wilderness stuff can be reached in an hour hike or so. (Or alot less)
