Wondering what the best option for the wyoming draw is with 10 moose points. I know I'm probably in no mans land with 10 points but does anyone know if there are any units that I'd even have a shot at in the random draw? I don't following Wyoming draws close enough, I've got 10 Elk, Moose and Deer points but with the new cost of the moose points I'd like to at least have my name in the hat. Not looking for a record book bull, or anything. I've drawn moose tags in Maine and Vermont in the past and have taken a nice eastern moose, would love to get a Shiras some day. Thanks for any insight.

A quick look at the Wyo G&F website Drawing Odds will show you what you're up against. Good thing you're not looking for a record book bull...the only license you could draw with 10PP in the PP draw is a cow tag in a couple areas. As far as drawing a random tag, last year there were only six areas that even had a random drawing for NR...5 had a quota of 1, and one area had a quota of 2.

Thanks for info I appreciate it. I'll dig into the draw odds report. Seems like there is no catching up anymore in any of the PP draws. I am only 37 so I guess I have a shot at out living some of the higher point guys but at the cost of the points it will end up being one expensive moose!!

You can apply in the random and not spend the extra money for preference point option. Take that cash and with a few dollars more apply in Idaho also. Ups your odds applying twice each year.
Draw odds can be more favorable .in Idaho than Wy random. Idaho does not have a point system , so your odds are the same as the guy applying for 20 years. Every year is a new roll off the dice for everyone.
Check the P&Y demarcation line for Shiras , maybe get license OTC and hunt with outfitter in Canadien border area this year.

I usually apply for sheep in idaho and as I understand it you can only apply for one trophy species per year in idaho so by applying for sheep I can't apply for moose if I understand it correctly.

Your preference point fee for moose and sheep is deducted from your refund. No free lunch in WY
