Michigan CWD new policy
They are now going to allow, in select affected areas, and only on private lands, year round killing of deer. You must apply for tags, and all must be tested. Chamber
Whats the stated goal by doing this, Just reducing herd numbers?
I see a bunch big velvet bucks never seeing hard horn? This will not help reduce CWD numbers if infected doe fawn during this open season. it may if fact really hurt hunting for mature bucks in fall. I'm just spit balling here without knowing the thinking of the biologists here.
Do you have a link to an article on this? Nothing is popping up on Google.
I will try and send it. Unless it was from some hacker, it was sent to me plus the maps of areas......
Mi DNR News...Posted on their site with all the maps and rules....
Here in CO they addressed CWD by reducing deer to low populations in areas many years ago. The end result was...low populations in those areas. CWD rate hasn't really changed.
Whitetails bounced back but muleys are just now gaining some population ground back.
The biggest effect was poor whitetail hunting for several years and poor muley hunting for a couple decades in the spots they targeted.
I seen it on another site also. Friggen stupid. Our Dnr has lost there way.
Soon to come to the liberal Colorado ideology
Yes, Lots of the state biologists are great smart folks who are are great deal over ruled by non elected DNR DLNR commissioners. This is a real problem. Their goals are very different from the science.
The state biologist are all on board with this..... They are going to try it..... Really I do not think enough land owners are going to participate in this.....
