Who has bought a 2020 bow and have been able to spend time shooting it and past the honeymoon phase? What did you get? What's your honest review. This is not a Brand X is great and the others suck post. Plenty of those already. This is an honest "my new bow and I" feedback on any new bow post.
I've read a lot of great reports for bows from several companies. I think this year would be a tough one to pick a new bow.
Lot of great bows out there for sure this year. Shoot them all and make your choice based on what feels right to you. That is the only way to be sure. I would suggest a 2019 bow but that's not what you're looking for :-)
I'm not looking for a new bow, just trying to get some real feedback on all the new technology . The last new bow I shot was a No Cam, and it did not make me want to replace my old bow. I'm also interested how one feels about this new technology after the initial infatuation of a new bow wears off. Is anything really any better or just different.
PECO,
I honestly looked at them at Scheels. Nothing made me want to quit using my Defiant, Defiant Pro or Spyder. Honest answer.
New Bowtech Revolt X has been fantastic for me. I love how simple it is and how easy it is to "tweak". Great technology IMO. After several years of using a carbon riser in the winter, I do miss that though...
Id get the Revolt or Revolt X, talk about easy tuning
I have been shooting the mathews VXR 28 for a few weeks and can honestly give it thumbs up all the way.
No hand shock is amazing on the VXR best I’ve felt
Recently bought a SR6. I think Bowtech has another winner. I haven't been that impressed with anything else they've come out with since I bought my D350 in '09. I haven't had it long enough to talk about tuning but I can say it draws nice, holds well, and is definitely a shooter. I haven't used the "comfort" setting yet, and doubt I ever will. The draw cycle is very similar to a D350 leaning towards the draw cycle of an 82nd Airborne slightly. But not enough to say the draw cycle is harsh. I still
I still think my D350 is the best bow ever made bar none and no exceptions and will continue to hunt with it.
I have gone through three 2020 bows this year. Didnt like the Elite Kure, Hoyt Rx
Alos didnt like the newset bowtech, great feeling and shooting bow but to mych mass weight for me. I did like the newest PSE nxt 31 however i dont think its better than last years evoke. I think the PSE mach 1 is the best bow of the year by far
I shot a bunch... Ended up with the Mathews Traverse
I got my Prime Black in November. Not a bad shooting bow at all. Thinking I'll keep this one instead of selling it. And my Athens Ridge 32 should be here early next week.
Just turned 71 in December and got a NEW bow for first time in over 10 years... most recently had a BowTech RPM 360, a Bowtech Admiral, a Bowtech Tribute and before that a Bowtech Extreme. Loved them all but wanted something different. This time I went with a Mathews VXR 30 and could not be happier. I added an IQ Pro hunter sight and have never been more accurate. Practice from 20 to 50 at a GlenDale and am always in the kill zone. Very quiet, no hand shock and a pleasure to shoot.
I just got a “new-to-me” bow which was a big step up from my old one (PSE DNA 30”ATA 6” BH 60# 345 IBO)
I picked up a 2018 Bowtech realm and really like it. What threw me at first was the 80% let off. I had been shooting the PSE DNA with 65-70% let off. I think the 80% let off is fine now but may have issues in some states, it’s legal in Colorado. I didn’t like the draw cycle and the steep fall off to the valley on the DNA and the Realm doesn’t have that issue. The realm is set on the comfort draw cycle and is a lot smoother and the quietest bow I’ve owned. The dna always had a noticeable loud sound due to the aggressive cams.
I know the 2020 bows have improved over 2018 but it wasn’t clear to me that the improvements where worth it to me based on the specs. Once I get the bow set I don’t change it so having all the tweakable features really don’t get used once I set the draw cycle tune my rest and sights.
I haven’t chronographed the realm but I’m shooting 460 grain arrows at 60#. The DNA with the same set up shoots at 270fps, which was almost the same as my Old Glory at 70#.
If the realm is any where close to that I’ll be very happy.
