I build my own arrows and have been using Blazer vanes for years. Might try something new this year....what do you guys like and why? Thanks!

I mostly use feathers. When I use vanes, Vane-Tec.

I have considered looking at something other than blazers as well. For you AAE guys, if I remember correctly they’re coming out with some kind of new vane this year that does not need the prep pen treatment. Does anybody know if there’s any legitimacy to that thought?

Blazers

I refuse to buy a pen and special glue just to get them to stick. AAE are out for me.

Blazer. Been using them since they came out. Played with a couple of others recently but saw no reason to switch.

Blazer but I was a feather guy for years. Like feathers better but not worth the relative hassle anymore

Used Blazers for years, but decided to try the AAE Max Hunter vanes last year. I had a terrible time getting them to stick with any consistency on my Maxima Red shafts. Tried all the different prepping techniques, yada, yada. still had problems. I finally went back to Blazers with zero gluing issues encountered. Only thing different, is I went to 4 fletch.

Blazers, this is one of those archery things I don't fix if it isn't broke...unlike my arrows, bow, etc. I don't tinker with my vanes! Ha!

Anybody try any of the lower profile blazers in a 4 fletch? Is it the heat vane?

I use blazers, the work and I have a bunch of them. I have some other 4" lower profile vanes I got from Bass Pro that work well also.

Flex fletch are the best vanes. Lightweight. Tough. Best memory of any vane! But many vanes are good and work well

AAE Max Hunter. Do the prep the right way and you can’t pull them off with pliers. They really stabilize and spin the arrow.

Funny this came up, I just tried about every vane out there. Even buying just 12 of each and fletching 3 arrows and having a few in case I damaged one or two shooting it cost me around 60 bucks. I also tried 4 fletch and both off set and hard helical. I fletched somew with my Bitz, some with Arizona easy fletch and some with my Jo-jan. After all was said and done I went back to the same Blazers I have been shooting for 10 years. The only thing I did was add a bit more helical to them and used Flex Fletch. Flex Fletch is by far the best glue I have ever used! Shawn

It’s hard to beat good old super glue gel on the blazers. Can’t beat 3.49 a bottle.

I switched to AAE Hybrid 2.6 for last season. Prior to that I used AAE Max hunters for several years. I did have some adhesion issues with the Max Hunters but did not strictly follow the AAE recipe for gluing Max vanes. The Hybrid vanes stick very well with gorilla fast set gel. They also seem quieter to me than Max Hunters.
