My sons Tyler & Alex are spending the week in Lanai hunting public land Axis Deer. This is their second year going after them and Tyler tagged this buck yesterday... A fun February hunt for sure!

Congrats! Not many hard horn right now, mostly half grown velvets. We've been fighting them about that for years. Another month would make a yuge difference.
HI DLNR at the top of their game.....
Been getting some wind. Should help a bit. Go fill that doe tag!

Tough hunt but fun. Pretty crowded this year. Light winds made it tough first few days then the big bucks went in hiding. Nice hard horn!

Yep... another thing the DLNR FUBARed...... opened up the archery draw to rifle hunters. You can actually apply for and draw both tags. Used to be apply for archery OR rifle, not both. Went from 150-180 archery hunters in a one week hunt to 300+ the first year. 350+ this year.
Very few hunters even left in the department. They don't care really how the hunt is managed and it shows. Greasing some squeaky wheeled rifle hunters. But what's new, happens in lots of states I'm hearing now.
Some great tasting steaks layin' on the ground there! ^^^^^

My buck from yesterday. Spotted from 500 yards, stalked in and let them feed out in front of me. 15 yard shot. Supper happy with a buck on my last day.
