How many mounts do you have in your home or homes.
Nine Heads one full body I keep saying I'm done but every few years get a one that just has to make it to the wall and not just a euro
My nieces were here a few weeks ago and actually counted mine. I was told I had 95
Zero full mounts , one each elk/deer/antelope euro.
Too many for our house. But I can't resist the urge.
It's gotta stop soon. Perhaps we should let the big ones walk so there's no temptation
15 not counting euros no idea on them.

1 muley
2 bear rugs

22 various species and some are my wife's. Full body chocolate bear coming soon
To many according to my better half
To many according to my better half
12 birds from my waterfowl days 1 velvet muley shoulder mount 3 euros and 1 skull cap.
21 Shoulder (2 more coming), 1 Full, 22 Euro's. My wife says too many. I kind of agree.
In my old cul-de-sac neighborhood our home was refereed to as "The House of Death" Now we live in the woods! All in with shoulder mounts, euro's, rugs, furs, and other displays about 40 dead animals in some form or another.
58 with 4 in the oven, not counting the euros.
2 life-size, 10 shoulder, pedestal or rug mounts, 2 fish, 1 pheasant. Also have a ruffed grouse and 4 Africa animals on the way in a few months
Couple of houses full... mine in Colorado and my folk’s ranch in Texas.
1 cinnamon teal 1 elk euro 1 muley shoulder 1 muley euro 1 antelope shoulder
Everything in the future will be a euro, and they'll probably live in the garage...unless I kill a bighorn, that will get a pedestal
Geezzzzz, I'd have to go count???
I'm not much of a Euro guy but I do have a few.....
Good luck, Robb
Not enough yet... My taxi's daughter sent me a thank you card for helping put her through college...
One, and it was a surprise gift from my son and friends on a velvet buck arrowed in December.
At one time 20 plus and mostly whitetails, but I had a pheasant, wood duck and a giant coon I killed when I was 7. I sold or gave most away. I have 6 whitetails left. The first buck I ever had mounted in 1985 and the rest all have a special meaning too. Shawn
32 in my house. another 25 at my work.
Four whitetails. From left to right, 2001, 2004, 2010, and 2014. I have space yet for a big non-typical. Then it's Euros for me.
15 shoulder mounts, 1 euro skull, lots of whitetail skull plates, a couple of turkey fans and over a hundred turkey beards with spurs in the house... oh, and a lonely fox squirrel in the shop that I mounted myself years ago.
11 at home and 5 at the office.
I should also put that I had over 100 Euros at one point and gave or sold most of them as well. I have several euros left, did not know we were counting them. Shawn
39 in the house. A few in storage, about a dozen at a local gun store and 4 in the hunting cabin. I don't know how many waiting to be mounted that probably never will be.
A Full mount Bear and turkey & 4 heads in the house. 10 skulls and Euros in garage, lost count of the turkey tailfans . come on hunting season!!
I have 6 deer shoulder mounts. 5 african animal shoulder mounts on the way.
2 rugs and a number of backskins.
12 euros.
All scattered between storage, my home, and 2 offices.
Just euros in the garage. All of our bear hides/skulls are downstairs for me and the boys.
I love taxidermy though. Jealous of you guys with lots in your home. I imagine it would be fun to see them everyday and relive those hunts/memories along with continued respect and enjoyment of the animal taken. I just love looking at them! Have a buddy that has about 50 heads in his house and every time I go there I just stare and ask questions. Seen em a hundred times but I can't help myself.
4 whitetails
3 elk
1 caribou
1 mule deer
1 pronghorn
Some muskies a walleye and a brown trout.
Lots of euros though. Lots! That all I get anymore although I might have to get another mount after go hunting with Lone Wolf in Saskatchewan.
Just 2 shoulder mounts, my biggest Muley, and my biggest Bull elk, out of all the animals I've taken over the last 40+ years. Both of those animals, as soon as I walked up on them, I knew I "needed" to get them done.
I find other "uses" for antlers ;^)
Gonna be a lot of taxidermy in landfills in the coming years. :)
20 with another whitey and full body Mt. Lion still at the taxi. Moving from an 1800sq/ft house to a new 3500sq/ft house this weekend, so I’ll have room for a few more.
30 with fur on. Sold about that many when I moved to BC a decade ago. Probably have that many skulls and Euros around too.
One. Just my oryx that I figured would be the only one I kill. Plus, a very nice looking mount. All the antlers get hung in the garage.
9 blacktail deer, 5 pronghorn, 4 mule deer, 3 elk , 2 bighorn sheep , 1 dall sheep, 1 coues deer, 2 bears, 1 whitetail deer & 1 shiras moose. These are done with 14 floor pedestals, 7 wall pedestals & the rest shoulder mounts. Also a dozen Euros.
It's kind of a personal question, no? I know there were a lot more when we were younger and first married, man those were the days. Now that the wife and I are both in our late fifties, the number has come down quite a bit. But I'll never tell...
I really never thought about it but after checking what I still have, (not including those I have given away), it's: 20 waterfowl and game birds, 23 assorted euros, 2 rugs, 23 mounts (21 shoulder, 1 half mount, 1 full), 1 fish. Totals 69 plus another gemsbok and 8 more birds waiting in the freezer.
I've not had any done for a few years, instead putting the money I would have spent on taxidermy on hunts. I checked and the count is 2 shiras moose, 2 bighorn sheep, 5 elk, 3 mule deer, 2 whitetails, 3 antelope, 1 caribou and a javelina. A life size bear, lion and mountain goat, several lion and bear rugs and dozens of euro's.
11 various shoulder, 1 Bear rug, 1 Full mount Bear, 5 small game animals, unfinished Euros (6). I doubt I will have any more mounts done unless truly exceptional.
6 whitetail, 1 black bear rug.
2 - not counting euros that I've done myself. My best whitetail and my pronghorn from my first western hunt.
About 25 and been dialing it down the last 5 years. I'm a 60 year old empty nester who came to the conclusion a house big enough to include a dedicated game room may not be in the cards. With just the wife and I, we don't want the expenses of a bigger house. I got all my mounts but one elk in our finished garage on one wall. I feel fortunate to have a wife that is OK with that, especially since she is a Chinese national. So she came from a place that has no hunting and no taxidermy. I'm likely done adding any mounts at this point, except maybe a sheep or booner deer. Glad I hunted out west so much when my body was fit & healthy because it's going downhill now.
Off the top of my head 31 mounts and lots of euros.
60+ right now. But these days I’m much more focused on quality wildlife art and only mount critters I think are particularly unique, beautiful or form a special memory. This past year the collection was reduced by 10 that I didn’t feel worked well and now the overall collection works much better without them. So I might continue to reassess and pull a few more. Also have a few in different stages of production - Snow Sheep, Aoudad, Desert Muley - and I’m nowhere near done hunting yet. So, it’s an ever-improving work in progress.
Not enough is the short answer. Have 3 Red stags, a Fallow Buck, Whitetail and Mule deer plus a bunch of euro's at home. There are more at my dad's including some African ones along with my dad's trophies in his much larger trophy room, a couple at our archery club and about a dozen waiting for me to catch up with the client mounts before I get started on my own. Thinking if we go into full lockdown in Australia for a few months then I will get them all done.
46 mounts, 11 are lifesize and too many Euros to count right now. Still have several at the taxidermist that I may not mount as I am thinking I have enough, but I do have plenty of wall space left yet so not sure what I will do.
More than I am able to try to count in my head...
Bou, interesting thread. Kind of wish it had asked to include photos if available as I would enjoy seeing how others display their trophies and related stuff and still remain married or with girlfriend. Thanks for starting this thread as I did not know that I had so much company of the same ilk on here............Bob
The picture threads of the displays can be an eye opening experience as well to say the least. Let’s just say the guys with the most heads are better hunters than interior decorators
46 in my house. Some are my kids and wife’s. Have some at friends and family.
15 shoulders a few rugs and 20 or so euros in the garage.
“Let’s just say the guys with the most heads are better hunters than interior decorators”
That is an excellent point. As the number of mounts increases, the ability to display them all in a tasteful and attractive manner decreases.

5 ducks, 3 small life size (plus one sheep on the way), and about 7 head/pedestal mounts each of Africa and U.S.
10 WT shoulder mounts and prob another 12 or so euros, 1 pheasant and one fish
One, a 256 pound buck I shot with my longbow, a once in a lifetime deer. I had several boxes of horns I sold in a yard sale to a guy that traded me a handmade knife and sheath for them. I have a big rack from a deer last year that I am going to use for a bow rack. Years ago I had a bear rug made, but I gave that to a friend in Newfy for taking me caribou hunting with him. We live in a small 200 year old farmhouse. Too small for a lot of mounts and too expensive anyways for me. This is what I do with the feet.
To Bou and Steke’ point, sometimes less is more. I had a lot more in this room at one point and one day my wife said, enough! She was right. I culled the herd and the room looks way better with just a handful of my best mounts.
My shop in the basement is a whole different story...
That’s looks tastfully excellent
One, the first mule deer I shot, and it was with my bow.
Same thing as Busta probably had nearly 50 all crammed together after the wife had enough of it ended up with 25 or so many in the basement and some select ones in the great room.
I have two that I had mounted in high school. Haven’t mounted one in twenty years. Most of my horns are in this tub in my shop. I have a few scattered other places but this is where my trophy’s go. Lol
About 25, in one big room in basement. Lots are African.
56 not counting euros or antler plaques.
Too many and a waste of good money to do mounts now. I came to that conclusion years ago anyway. I just took 2 big containers of whitetails to my sons he wants to do some chandeliers for his home. ...I sold off a few mounts awhile back ..... lucky to get 10 cents on the dollar of taxidermy cost..... sad ! ..... so I quit selling off mounts.
Good to see you post Herm. Been awhile. Be safe
2 X Elk…Rocky and Tule
2 X Lopes
4 X Blacktails
2 X Columbia Whitetails
2 X Couse
1 X Muley
1 X Axis Buck
1 X Blackbuck
3 X Euros 1 Elk and 2 Sitka Blacktail
Waterfowl…Canvasback, Snow Goose, Mallard, Canada Goose, Bull Sprig, Goldeneye…That about covers it…24 Total all bow kills except waterfowl, with a good Whitetail and Sitka Blacktail someday, maybe…
How do yall make yourselves get rid of your mounts? I just cant do it. lol
I also cant imagine having 75-125 mounts either. Thats crazy. I have them all over my house but still not that many.
1 deer shoulder mount, 1 deer euro mount, 1 elk antler mount, 2 moose euro mounts, 1 bear euro mount. As some others I don't do a lot of mounts. Memorable to me...not to others.
Not many for me. I only hunt whitetails and I have 2 shoulder mounts, my first buck and then my biggest. I do have one at the taxidermist now that I almost wish I hadn't taken but he had a very unique rack. I've got a ton of antler mounts and about 4 years ago I started doing my own euros and I have 8 of those. I love antlers but if I didn't kill the deer then I don't want them. I could never give any of mine away, they all mean a lot to me, big or small.
The guy we bought our current home from left 4 really nice shoulder mounts in one of the garages and I sold them all in a yard sale for peanuts because they really aren't worth much of anything.
deerhunter72 "The guy we bought our current home from left 4 really nice shoulder mounts in one of the garages and I sold them all in a yard sale for peanuts because they really aren't worth much of anything." Sort of what I said...have your mounts done for your memory and enjoyment...they mean very little or nothing to others.
Only one mounted for me was a boar hog I shot with a bow and arrow. I wasn't going to get it mounted but my daughter was with me and had her boar and mine mounted. I have a full size buck that I shot for a taxidermist friend that he wanted to mount. I worked with his wife and she told me one day the buck was done and come look at it. It was standing by their fire place and had a stump and some limbs and other stuff around it. She told me to look underneath and yep. had his whole package in place. My friend died with cancer but his wife still has the buck in her house. BTW, she cut up the buck and invited the neighbors for a cook out. She had lots of meat that looked like minutes steaks and everyone thought it was really good with fried onions on hamburger buns. His wife did all the tanning and made beautiful bear skin rugs.
I had no idea…..so I counted them. 41…..okay, I have a problem.
13 most are euro, about to add 3 more.
2 blacktails, 1 Roosevelt, I bobcat and a half dozen ducks.
Exactly right cornpone. All on my antlers are some of my most prized possessions and I hope one of my kids will hang on to them when I’m gone but they may not. At $750 a mount, I seriously doubt that I will ever have another one done.
37 plus a bunch of euros.
I’m like others, in that I’m trying to transition into just doing euros from here on out, but I’m having a difficult time convincing myself to do that, especially on whitetails.
My son will probably want to have a couple of them, and couple of friends will probably want a few more, as well. When I’m gone, my wife is gonna make a small fortune in the pet chew business. Still, it’s very enjoyable to sit back, look at the mounts and recall the events of each hunt.
8 whitetails 1 bear rug 1 full body small bear 1 antelope 1 bluegill 2 northern pike 1 10 pound Illinois bass Don’t intend to get any more except euros from a future African hunt
6 whitetail shoulder mounts, several game birds,my wifes turkey, one cinnamon phase bear rug,a couple fox...and countless skull capped racks. All recurve bow kills except some of the gamebirds.
19 mounts. Hats off to the guys with 100 plus. That will NEVER be me. Not by choice of course.
