I should know better than to plan this before season as it will probably jinx me later, or maybe im just getting anxious as our season here in iowa doesnt open for a few weeks.Show me what youve got to give me the incentive not to screw up on my shots this spring!

Here is an option if you don't want to do the full mount. I removed all but the smallest bones from the wings and stretched them like the tail fan. Once dried, coat skin side with bondo. Used a unique piece of walnut given to me by an old friend. I like it and it shows off more of the bird without eating up a ton of space. Pete

Wanted something slightly different. He was about in this position, on the ground, when I shot him. Coming out of strut and gobbling. 34 yards spine shot.

Turkey mounts take a lot of space. I like the strutting but takes to much floor space for me. I did a flying one for one my daughter killed.

Excuse the mess and dust...

My problem with turkey mounts has ALWAYS been that i think they look fake. A flying turkey looks fake when stationary. To me a strutting turkey looks super stiff and fake, even though thats what they look like in the wild. I just dunno...

I have had 2 turkeys mounted because of that, the first was because he was a hammer bird for here in PA, 25.5 lbs and 1-1/2” spurs. The other was a free mount because it won a local big turkey contest, otherwise I wouldn't shell out the money it costs for a turkey mount. In both cases, i specifically asked the taxi to do something different from their normal mounts and i provided still frame pics from videos i had taken or had found.

The moment where the switch flips and that turkey goes from stationary full strut outside of range to the 1/2-3/4 strut on a mission march is the pose that makes me melt and leaves me needing a cigarette even tho i dont smoke, if ya know what im saying....

That was the inspiration for the one mount. The other mount in the tree was a distinct image that i vividly remember seeing of another bird i once had killed after i unknowingly set the blind up in the dark, 15 yards from the bird on the limb and when he first gobbled i may or may not have wet myself a bit first in surprise and then excitement. I watched him search for his landing spot after departure for 15 minutes before he finally pitched out and this pose was that exact one.

I agree with JohnMC. I do not recommend full flight due to the space that it takes up.......Bob

Nice mounts! Even the one on the hen??one of my ideas is a hanging mount flying from this beam but have never seen one and wouldn't know how a guy could hang it to look real

Shug.....You only lack the “lip curl” pose, then you’d pretty much have all the bases covered ;-)
