I am going to go to the grocery store and buy a butterball. Shoot it in the backyard. Since I can't go turkey hunting and both the ranges I shoot at are closed.

Great picture. Hopefully the next picture was a hero shot with one or both of those toms.

t-roy, we had an ice storm here Thursday into Friday. What you see on their tails is actually ice coating their feathers. Pretty cool, and indication of how cold it was here. These pictures are from our opening morning. My boy sent a few arrows on their way but unfortunately for him they found nothing but feathers.

Friend of a friend. That’s what happens when FWC tries to play god and brings in cats from out west to pro-create with our “Florida Panthers” now we have a state full of mountain lions that eat everything. Awesome video though

Yes Troy, got him in MB. We don’t have turkeys like the US does but a guy can find some here and there. I drove west from home. As you can see in the picture I even got to hunt some “elevation changes” as opposed to the table top flat closer to home. A 20ft hill is something to get excited about. It sounds like the turkeys are moving in and expanding which I am happy about. Maybe increased hunting opportunities in the years to come!

Tags are over the counter. One per year. There is a spring and fall season where the one tag is valid. Once it is filled it is filled obviously. Turkey populations seem to be very restricted to the southernmost part of the province, and from about the middle going west.

Well I got to add one .

Well today started out good. Heard a few gobbles right at Daybreak. Then it got quite. At 830 I started to hear birds out about 150 yds. I gave a few soft yeps and bang right back at me. For the next 30 or 40 minutes we chatted. Then I saw them and it was 3, all about the same size. The lead bird kept fanning out but they didn't gobble once they saw my setup. I had a Jake and a hen decoy setup about 10yds from my blind. The 3 of them at first started to come towards my decoys but they slowly walked toward the back side of my blind. As they were doing toward the back I opened up a back window and closed one of the front. I use a old double bull t5 with 2 vertical side windows in each wall. Wish I could find another blind like this one. The lead bird stop right after passing a big hemlock tree and stopped 19.5 yds. I drew back settle my 20-yard PIN right up the leg, check my sight level and touched my release. I could hear it was and looked good. Bird flew and settled in a little depression where I couldnt see him. But I was pretty sure it was a good hit. The other two birds start to punt and walked in the direction he flew and they hung around by him for about 30 minutes and walked away. Bow is a strothers rush XT pulling 68-29, shooting a victory vforce v3, tipped with a Crimson Talent battle-axe expandable. Arrow passed thru and was about 5 yds passed where I hit the bird.

No luck on toms this morning. Did call in these 2 bearded hens. Not a very good pic, but both hens had short, jake-like beards. Also saw another hen this morning with a pencil thin, 7“-8” beard as well. Must be a lot of testosterone in our flock.
