Gotta give him credit. He sure is one stubborn SOB goin every day at 4 am. Back in one of my usta spots. You know Usta be good. Did have 3 gobblers going in here a couple days ago. I had setup right within 60 yds of them. They were gobbling like crazy in the trees and shutup the second they hit the ground. Full on filming gear ... no decoys...burlap blind.... its startin yo grow on me!
Got one gobbling waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy off
Came much closer. Heard him gobble at about 250 yds 10 min ago..... nuthin since !
Well ifin he snuck in he snuck back out. Aint seen nor heard nuttin in over an hr. Gettin ready to call it or move to another spot
Bummer slyr, hope the next set works out better.
At the second spot..... no nuttin
In a bit I am headed to our farm to hunt tomorrow and Sunday. Had many a days like yours, and some like this last Sunday...
Had toms, jakes and one hen all visible for four hours. Watched the hen get bred. She came into my decoys spread, the toms only closed to 39. It took them 3 hours to come from where they landed off the roost, about 200 yards from me. In the end, same results as you, nutting.
Hang tough, it can change in a wing beat. GL!
Bright moon when I leave the cabin this morning. I watched a gobbler strut 150 yards from the cabin as I sat on the porch last evening. A hen was walking around and he kept following for 30 minutes, in and out of full strut.
As I leave the cabin, a weak gobble sounds off at most 100 yards away, and very early. I hustle up to where I played with all those turks last weekend, get set up with much anticipation.
Not one gobble! LOL, that's turkey hunting. Thanks for sharing.
Had two for visit at least.
Habitat wheres your camp? Mine is Stueben county NY
Carroll county MO. You out this morning?
Yes im out but i dont know why its blowin 40 mph and 37*
Im back in my home state in MA hunting today
You videotape your hunts?
No, I have never tried to video.
Sunny, calm but 50.
I am sitting on the edge of a CRP field I burned in March. Very heavy dew, the grass is 6-8" tall I don't expect them to come out until it dries a little.
GL to you this morning. Those are tough conditions!
Heres a pic from my camp last night
Wow! You must love to turkey hunt. At least you have no bugs to deal with. I have pulled gobs of ticks off me this season already.
Walking back to the cabin, a gobbler in full strut half way back. He gobbled twice, that's my total action. Hope yours was better!
