Jay, the recurve bow is a Great Plains, 55#, 62 inch. At least 18 years ago at the CBA Jamboree this bow was used in a drawing for those members who had signed up a number of 3-yr memberships during a membership drive. I was the lucky one. While I have killed a few WT deer and turkeys with this bow, My bucket list includes a Colorado elk in the very near future. You being from Michigan, I killed my very first WT in the UP, in 1962 while in the USAF, using a recurve bow. Most of my kills are with a compound but I LOVE my stick as I call it my FUN bow. Thanks for the note. Paul

Paul, KI Sawyer I presume.
The Strategic Air Command
I have switched back to recurves and longbows also.
Hunted turkeys this AM with my Osage self bow, I’ve targeted one specific bird and with the range of my Osage snake bow I’m running out of season.

Not sure who the young fellow with Chase is, but I’ve heard Paul is in his late seventies, so that’s not him.
Congrats Paul! That picture sums up a lot of what bow hunting is. So the saying is true about a picture being worth a thousand words

Jay, yea, KI Sawyer AFB. At the time, 1960, the base was SAC but later turned to ADC, ie, Air Defense Command which I was part of as a radar operator. B52 and F101 Voodoos was the planes of action. Spent 3.5 years there until discharged in 1963.. The UP of Michigan is a great place. Returned later to Marquette Mich, and went to NMU for 6 years and earned my Master Degree in 1971. my best, Paul
