Jaq, do you normally see animals at that elevation in that location ? Just wondering about snowpack in general this year ?.........Badbull

Badbull, there are lots of elk down below us that live there year-round. I killed my bull last year at about 7900'. Snowpack here and above was just above normal.

Did that put a damper on the trout fishing Lou? Rained like hell down here in town for a good portion of the day.

Nope, our trout are always hungry. They are spawning in the streams and the ones downstream at the lake mouths are gobbling pegged beads. Chilly fishing this afternoon, though, 40 degrees.

Those Snow Days in Spring are a treat for sure Lou!
Something about it seems to make it feel so silent------->

To say I’m jealous is an understatement. The week ahead for us. :(

Right at 32 at my place. The ground was warm so it melted pretty quick but got about 4". Got a little more last night. Not that unusual in the high country on Memorial Day weekend for some reason. Funny to see the unprepared millennials heading back down the mountain early with their cheap, soggy tents and soaked sleeping bags strapped to the roofs of their Subarus.

Was 97 in San Jose, CA today. I wouldn't mind a bit of that.

So True...Most of the SoPark weekend warriors were bailing out in a steady stream all day yesterday. Not a great day if you weren't prepared for it. Got several inches here at 9k but most melted off by days end. This will really green up the hay pasture now!

Heck, you just never know! I'd scouted this area a week earlier & here's what we were faced with on Aug 30th.

My mom said she got hailed on repeatedly… Of course she’s 100 feet higher than you are ;)
But there are no Elk down by the house. Only that one Whitetail buck and the Moose that pooped all over her porch! ??
