Upcoming! NM 15 Youth
Elk

My son drew unit 15 youth as a non res. I've never personally applied for 15 as the odds are tough and I apply for other units in close proximity. Who's had the tag or been on the hunt? This same son drew a unit 23 youth tag two years ago and we killed a nice 6x6 bull with help from BugleNMin. I know, he's a lucky turd when it comes to drawing tags.
So I've hunting the green gap road on 13 with elk screaming across the road in 15 before. I would be willing to privately trade information on 16E, 13, or 23 for some ideas on 15. Otherwise, we will just show up early and do what we normally do, move and grove, bob and weave until we located them. This information is not for me, rather for my son and as I previously mentioned, I don't even personally apply for 15 archery.
I did draw 23 archery this year and will be out there on the first hunt. Love seeing bulls and the country if you got pics post em up.
Hope everyone is starting to think about hunting as it's not going to be long!
No help here but I do want to wish you both the best of luck. Between Glassing & Calling into un-glassable areas you'll do just fine! Look forward to the pics!

ElkNut1 - So your saying get your ass out there and hunt, I copy! I will say it can be fun to post online about the upcoming hunt and see what wheels get turning based on the results. I have gotten a lot of offers to help on here in the past, some have materialized and others not so much, most have genuinely good intentions. Personally I get excited about helping others as well. Takes me back to when I had the tag. I realize some tags are more once in a lifetime and others more OTC and that can make a difference as to what people are willing to share. This, being a youth hunt with less than 3% odds, from what I gather, is pretty much likely not going to happen again. Elk-Nut1 until September....
Tony, Thats a great tag for your boy! PM sent....
Besides the usual spots to look Research the private land that get land owners tags and in turn have to allow the public on their land.
It’s not highly advertised and can be hard info to get.
I found a spot that a 330 type bull was using and then only found out I could hunt it half way through the hunt.
I had multiple close encounters With him but couldn’t seal the deal. Either brush or cows got me.
But it was a great hunt
No sir, not busting your chops, just offering support for a Father/Son team.

Elknut1 no worries wasn’t chop busting I save that for the right application. I was kidding merely just been around long enough to know how this works. The elk are where you find them for that’s one thing for sure. I look up to some of you accomplished elk killers, some of your are so consistent it’s only from hard work and experience.
Altitude yessir that’s why I like that East side in the checkers.
Steve how the hell are you?!? I remember that year we talked a lot about B. Haven’t been back since 15
