Yukon 2020 hunts cancelled

Well my outfitter Chris Widrig just email. He is canceling his 2020 fall season and hunts will be pushed back a year. We talked several weeks ago and it was all but official, well it is now for sure.

That sucks was it going to be a Grizzly hunt?
I curious what happens to those that had 2021 hunt booked a lot times those hunts are booked couple years in advance. Are those guys being pushed to 2022 or are the outfitters running more guys through.

It was going to be griz/caribou. Caribou was my actual main reason to book but the griz Hunt was a good deal. I was booked for 2022. Booked a year and a half ago now... currently he is pushing all the hunts back a year. So I’m rethinking... obviously I’m still going but if I have another year to save... May as well make it a trip of a lifetime and do caribou and either moose or sheep. Both excite me.... another year of saving will make it possible.

I haven't officially heard on my sheep hunt in the Yukon yet. Like you, my outfitter was not very optimistic a few weeks ago. But he assured me, he would just "work me in" whenever I wanted to come. Unfortunately, I am full for '21 so will be looking at '22 if this year is a "no go". Hasn't Canada heard? The riots killed Corona... :)

Sucks I also had my Kodiak Brown Bear hunt cancelled. You have a good attitude about it. You booked with a great outfitter so no worries.

Ain’t that the truth Kota! I know last we talked you sounded skeptical about your hunt at the time as well. Chris told me he would make it official June 1st and he did just that. For me it’s a lot easier to move hunts as I don’t have other commitments. Many do and the moving process will be harder or impossible.
I assume it won’t be long before other outfitters follow suit.

Yes Bou, at this time it was his decision. And as far as I know he is the first outfitter to cancel fall hunts.

Still hoping/planning for '20 Nunavut and NWT caribou hunts. If not, both outfitters will move the hunt to '21. I'll get more time hunting them in BC this fall if they are postponed in the territories.

Had NF moose for son and me with Arluk. They emailed and said to NOT send the rest of the money as scheduled. NF has a separate closure and won't even let other province people in.

Short term silver lining, picked up an antelope hunt this fall with pronghorn Paradise. And am now looking into bow elk next fall in Colorado. Still have a chance at my 2022 hunt too as it sounds like the guy in front of me may back out.
Hope everyone else is hearing great things for their fall hunts.
