This week sometime. Moose and Bear was done Monday. Deer is in the process. Elk and Pronghorn sometime between now and Friday. Your CC/bank account will be hit before you recieve email or see it on CPW website if you want to keep hitting refresh on your online banking. :)

$44 wouldn't be elk as the tag is over $50. It may be pronghorn if you applied?

Believe that is a wrong assumption. Nothing costs $44 and that amount is less than an elk tag...plus elk is not processed yet.
$40.24 is deer and same price for lopers when that posts. Plus habitat stamp if not bought already

Hahaha! Just figured it out. The wife booked a 2 day campsite for a family gathering and used my debit card. Dammit. Had me going for a second there. I can confirm I did draw a deer tag tho.

I have two charges on my CC, one for $55.43 and another for $15.43. I used my CC for both my son and I and am confused as hell on the $15.43 charge.

^^^You may have used a common CC, but your CPW accounts for yourself and son are separate, no? Tags sold through seperate CPW accounts will show up as separate CC charges. My boys also have separate CPW accounts, linked to my common CC, and I'm seeing separate charges, just as you described. You're just seeing a youth tag separate from your tag.

I thought so too but my son turned 18 last month so I assumed he would be charged adult pricing for elk (resident). Also, youth elk tags are $15.68, not $15.43. We'll know soon enough I guess.

Ah, you're right, I didn't pay attention to the CENTS and that that makes no SENSE :) Maybe that's why CPW is taking a little time to update their website. Re: the youth tag, Item #5 under Age Requirements in the youth hunting section indicates 17 or younger at time of application receive the reduced-cost and youth preference. Looks like your boy slid in just under the wire.

I'm bummed. Did not draw 49 with 6 points. Last year 62% with 5 points drew.
Last two times I hunted there I drew with 2 points.

I hear you Mike. Twenty years ago, I researched and selected a LE draw area that only required one point to draw. Had some great hunts there over the years, but that one point unit is now a four point unit and climbing.

We got our unit 67 tags with 3 points. I figured we had a 40% chance to get the tag. We started accumulating our points A year before they changed the pay for points scheme.
Based on all the point creep I was concerned that we might never catch up. We never hunted 67 but elk are elk and well put in the time. That’s half the fun of it. Glad we’re going and there’s no more uncertainty!

Mark, two NRs applied with 27 points this year for unit 2 archery and did not get it. The one with 28 points got it.
So if those two apply again next year they will have 28 points and one will get the single NR permit. At 27 points after this years draw you will have to wait at least 2 more years for those two to work through before you have a chance. Then you'll be competing with the two 26 pointers who applied this year and now have 27 points like you. If you were one of those 2 then your odds will be 50/50 in 3 years. If not your odds will be 33% in 3 years. Of course, that assumes that none of the other 300 people who have 28 or more points right now and didn't apply for that permit this year decide to apply for that permit in the future. If they do it could be quite a while before you draw.

If Mark was at 26 going in, Aspen Ghost is right - it will be 30 to 31 points or so before he draws...
Crazy to think that when he started building points, any elk tag in the state could be drawn with 5 points...

This is the moose/elk/goat issue and why you can’t do a preference point system. Too many people want to hunt it and not enough tags.

Yes 5 points should have gotten me a Ranching for Wildlife tag back then but that year NR were excluded. Then low number of NR tags for NW corner became less and less as years went by, tags were diverted for this group and that group, started allocation for a random draw , reduce tags because herd was downsized, so it’s 1 NR tag now, next step is to alternate ever other year tag available , tag not available .
Oh ya maybe no tags as the wolf’s begin to get established.
Maybe a draw to pick up the left over mega racked from Wolf kills.
