Gps - maintenance

Maybe this will help someone else as well. My gps compass quit pointing me in the correct direction when I’d plug in a way point. I called garmin and the lady, super nice, asked me when the last time I calibrated it was. Umm...huh? When’s the last time you checked for system updates? Umm...never. When’s the last time you did a factory reset. Lady, I just use it when I need it. She walked me through all the different “maintenance” steps and it’s working great again. Every gps is different but if you google “how to calibrate (insert model)” someone probably made a video of it.
Maybe I’m just late to the party, but if you’ve never done this stuff either then it can’t hurt!

Yes good point. For garmin you download basemap then import your data. Do this before resetting anything. Mine didn’t delete my waypoints but it’s possible
